STEPHAN
By the time I pulled into the mansion driveway, exhaustion had settled into my bones.
The entire day had been one problem after another, meetings stacked on top of calls, calls stacked on top of reports, and somewhere in the middle of all that chaos I had barely found the time to breathe.
It was already close to eleven at night, my shoulders felt tight from the strain of the day, and as I stepped out of the car and shut the door behind me.
The house was quiet when I stepped inside. I crossed the living room, loosening my tie with one hand. I did not need anyone to tell me that everyone had already gone to bed.
For a moment, all I wanted was to go upstairs, shower away the day, and fall into bed beside Jasmine.
The thought of her waiting for me in our room was the only thing that had kept me sane through half the meetings I had endured today.
