Lorelei tapped the wall on her way down to make sure she wouldn't get lost in all this darkness. Under her foot, she felt a weird substance; she looked down and noticed that the substance was even glowing: a green effervescent liquid. It didn't produce enough light for her to see properly, but she was content with just that. She walked along the brick walls further into the room until she ran into an object without realising. She tapped the object and felt multiple sheets of paper disperse beneath her hands. Lorelei took one of them and slowly walked back, but her heel was met with a glass shard that lightly grazed her heel. The sudden shock made her move back towards the wall and accidentally flip a switch. A yellow light filled the whole room, and Lorelei, blinded by the sudden exposure to light, covered her eyes until they had adapted to it. Her vision was not completely back yet, but she was able to make sense of what she saw: a small brick room with tons of shelves covering the walls except the one Lorelei was against. Glass shards scattered everywhere on the floor as well as that same liquid right under her foot. Without noticing it, she let go of the paper she held, and it was now drenched in the unknown substance. She picked it up and turned back towards the object she had gotten it from, a wooden brown table in the very far corner of the room. She placed it back, far from the dry papers. She was captivated by something else, something on the furthest shelf from her. She swiftly made her way there, making sure she did not step on any glass shards or liquid. There she stood, in front of a glass container filled with the green liquid. There was something floating inside, but she wasn't able to make sense of what was in it. She knocked on the glass, but the only response she received was the sound of the bubbles resurfacing from the top. All the other shelves harbored broken glass containers; she figured it was probably the source of all the mess on the ground, but what she didn't understand was the reason why all this was hidden.
Did someone else know about this place?
The answer was clearly no, since apart from her, not a soul was in sight. She made her way to the desk and sat down on the run-down, broken chair placed in front of it. She went through the sheets of paper on it. Each sheet had a kind of circular writing with the same type of characters she saw in the library upstairs. Lorelei figured it was probably a language, but this time it was used differently. The words completed the part of the circle that wasn't drawn, and other shapes came together to bring it all to life. She carefully looked into each sheet of paper and tried to understand what she was seeing. Of course, doing so was of no hope, since Lorelei didn't have anything or anyone to guide her through it. She quickly gave up and turned her attention towards a thin-looking book, placed in a drawer on her right. After seeing all those big books in the library, Lorelei was sure this one didn't even contain a fifth of the pages the others had. Dust lay over the cover, and Lorelei brushed it off with her hand. Finally, amidst all those weird-looking characters, it was a familiar writing, a writing she could read.
Journal
It was that singular word the cover contained. Lorelei rummaged through it only to notice more than half of the pages were ripped or damaged, except the first few.
"Aww," she let out, disappointed.
She had finally found something she could read, but it was completely tattered. She still decided to be content with what she had and went back to the first page. In an oddly beautiful writing, something resembling a name was written, but the writing was fading off.

She flipped the page and continued reading.
First log: 18.02.11
I have managed to acquire the Eye of Fate. Storing it will cause issues, but it shouldn't be a problem as long as the Order doesn't find out. I've made all preparations underground, here at the castle. The Order and the Inquisitors are a problem, but having Livina and Deam makes it easier to take care of them, at least for now. I'm only two months pregnant; running the compatibility test will have to wait for now. I'm sure it will prove positive in the test… I'm sure of it, but I keep having those afterthoughts: what if it doesn't? What will happen then? Will all my life's work go to waste because of that? Impossible; I will make sure it proves positive to the test.
Second log: 13.05.11
I am now five months pregnant; I can feel the baby move within me. I feel… I feel a connection to it? Is that perhaps what they were talking about? I can't tell. It's still too undeveloped to run the tests; I must remain patient for the time being. There are more pressing matters for now; Regalia is attacking us. The whole kingdom is on edge; this may be the only opportunity I will have to take my research somewhere else while the Order is busy. Deam has been dispatched to the front lines, and Livina stayed here with me, but I'm sure she will be too. Amidst all this chaos, I can't believe he still found the time to find another wife. It will be the third now. I can't help but find this sickening. He isn't like he was before, not since he got a hold of that thing. He became so full of himself; he assures us we can win the war without breaking a sweat, thanks to it — the Angel. Or so is what they call him. The Order took him in, but I've seen the atrocities they've done to make him obey. What made even less sense is his capabilities to regenerate and that power of his. He kills people just by his touch; I want to study it, I need to study it. And those wings flopping out of his back — they are mesmerizing, almost pulling you in if you stare too long.
Third log: 24.07.11
The war has ended… It was horrific… That thing… It killed all of them… It didn't stop, even when they surrendered. I forced Deam and Livina to bring me there, but I should've listened to them and stopped. He stood there with his dumb grin, patting his head like he had done the right thing. Poor thing, I feel sorry; he looks so young, but his skin is already covered in scars and bruises. I was the first to see him when he came back from the frontlines; his wings had lost their pure white and turned red from the blood, and his eyes had diminished into a gray tone. After the war, he assigned Costan as his successor — the one who would reign over Vileth. The child of Vina, the first wife. I cannot accept it; I need him dead, all of them. I will have Yinir's head, I swear. In two months, everything will start.
Fourth log: 30.08.11
During the war, I was able to relocate to a tiny brick room under my old residence in Vinyl; it really is nice to be home. It's a little room hidden under the library. I've sealed the entrance with a spell, but created another, less obvious one; it's not the safest option, but this will have to do. I brought the Eye with me as well; the amount of energy this thing absorbs is amazing. It's like a vortex pulling everything into it. I've created a liquid capable of countering this anomaly; for now, this will do the job. I still wonder what they have done to the capital, to the Angel, but I've got even more pressing matters. Tomorrow, the tests will begin.
Fifth log: 31.08.11
He tested positive for every test and was perfectly healthy. I'm glad… Really glad… All that filth, I will be able to get rid of all of it, but I mustn't get too excited yet. I know little to nothing about the Eyes of Fate; in fact, nobody does. The only thing commonly agreed upon between people is that they are indeed powerful. It will also be painful for me, but I must bear it. For the sake of the future…
Sixth log: 06.09.11
I took the Eye out; it was awfully painful. I felt like my very core was being ruptured, but I did it. It resonated with him and disappeared. In seven days, I will give birth. I have already chosen a name for him, a name befitting of a king. I will call him-
Lorelei jolted at the sound of a noise upstairs; she was so absorbed in her reading that she forgot about herself for a second. She needed to go back to her room. Her eye was exposed, and she wasn't wearing her glove, but for now her primary worry was the sound upstairs. She placed the journal in the drawer and went back upstairs to the library, carefully using the shelves as covers and watching anything that could move. She slowly made her way to the wall she came in from; this time she braced herself for the impact and leaned against the wall.
