Jayden frowned, biting his lower lip as he stared at the phone screen resting on the desk in front of him. He let out a soft breath, his cheeks puffing slightly, and began tapping his fingers rhythmically against the polished wood as he debated his next move. He checked his luxury wristwatch again, his gaze drifting toward the heavy oak office door.
"Does she really not realize that it's past lunchtime? I'm starving!" Jayden thought, his frustration mounting internally.
"Do I seriously have to call her first just for her to figure it out?" He remained locked in a silent tug-of-war with his own pride.
"Ugh, absolutely not. I'll look desperate…"
Jayden scowled, his hand clenching into a tight fist and slamming down on the table. He let out a long, heavy sigh and leaned back against the leather headrest, letting his eyes drift shut. For now, he could only wait, though he seriously doubted his bruised ego could outlast his rumbling stomach.
