Through the tinted glass, a figure loomed. Sarah's eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated shock. Standing in the middle of the congested street, heedless of the rain and the surrounding traffic, was Jayden. He was leaning down slightly, his sharp features shadowed by the evening light, his knuckles poised to strike the glass a second time.
"Hey! Who do you think you are? Get away from the vehicle!" the taxi driver yelled, immediately defensive. He rolled down his window halfway, glaring fiercely at the intruder who had materialized out of the gridlock.
Jayden didn't even blink. He completely ignored the driver's hostility, his dark, intense eyes locking onto Sarah through the window. His expression was an unreadable mask of determination and barely concealed agitation. He gestured sharply with his hand, his command silent but unmistakable: Open the door.
"Jay?" Sarah whispered, her voice caught in her throat. She unlocked the door, her fingers trembling slightly.
