Chapter 1 - The Mother of All Committees

**Title:** The Mother of All Committees

1. **The Problem is Identified:** In the small town of "Happygaon," the resident welfare association, led by the overly enthusiastic Mr. Chatterjee, decided the community park needed a new name. The current name, "Park," was deemed "too simple and lacking in vision." To solve this critical issue, Mr. Chatterjee immediately formed the "Park Renaming Committee."

2. **The First Sub-Committee is Born:** The Park Renaming Committee held its first meeting. Mr. Sharma, a member, pointed out, "We can't just pick any name! We need to see what the people want." Everyone agreed this was too big a task for them alone. So, they unanimously passed a resolution to form a "Public Opinion Collection Sub-Committee."

3. **The Sub-Committee Needs Guidance:** The newly formed Public Opinion Collection Sub-Committee met the next day. They looked at each other, bewildered. "What kind of opinions should we collect?" asked Mrs. Rao. "This is too vague! We need clear guidelines." And so, they decided to create a "Sub-Committee for Framing Guidelines for Opinion Collection."

4. **The Guidelines Committee Feels Overwhelmed:** The "Guidelines Committee" got to work. After an hour of intense debate about whether to use a pencil or a pen for the final draft, the chairman, Mr. Iyer, had a brilliant idea. "Friends, before we set guidelines for others, shouldn't we first define our own duties? I propose we form a 'Duties and Responsibilities Definition Sub-Committee' for ourselves!"

5. **The Need for Coordination is Felt:** By now, there were three committees. The original one, the opinion committee, and the guidelines committee. They were all meeting at different times in different places. Mr. Singh, a member of the original committee, observed, "This is chaos! There is no synergy! We desperately need an 'Inter-Committee Coordination Committee' to align our goals and meeting schedules."

6. **The Final, Brilliant Idea:** The Inter-Committee Coordination Committee held its first meeting at the local tea stall. As they sipped their tea, they realized the biggest problem of all: funding. All these committee meetings required tea and biscuits, and the budget was blown. To solve this monumental financial crisis, they decided to form one last committee: the "Financial Emergency and Tea Subsidy Committee."

7. **The Grand Conclusion:** A month later, Mr. Chatterjee, the original founder, called for a status update. He was presented with a list: The Park Renaming Committee, the Public Opinion Collection Sub-Committee, the Guidelines Framing Committee, the Duties Definition Sub-Committee, and the Inter-Committee Coordination Committee. All were waiting for the "Financial Emergency and Tea Subsidy Committee" to release funds so they could start their work. Mr. Chatterjee stared at the list, his head spinning. He finally sighed, crumpled the paper, and declared, "Enough! I am now forming a new, powerful committee. It will be called the 'Committee to Dissolve All Committees.' First meeting... is now adjourned *sine die*!" And that is how the park in Happygaon remained "Park" forever.
