Chapter 173 - Chapter 173: The Perfect Excuse to Slack Off

Jie was just about to offer the three kids a few more words of praise when a familiar chime echoed in his mind.

Ding!

[Congratulations to the host for witnessing the birth of the strongest Genin. Rewards calculated.]

[Reward: A mass of Nine-Tails Chakra. Sharingan ocular power increased by 50%. One bottle of Evolution Potion.]

A mass of Nine-Tails Chakra was a decent haul... it would accelerate the cohesion rate of the Tailed Beast Chakra within his body.

Ever since the Yin and Yang halves of the Nine-Tails had merged inside Jie, his Nine-Tails Chakra possessed the unique ability to absorb other Tailed Beast Chakra to complete itself.

More than five years had passed, and the Nine-Tails' supplementation was only one step away from completion. This reward finally pushed Jie over that last hurdle, granting him a fully complete Nine-Tails.

However, to the current Jie, a complete Nine-Tails was just par for the course. After all, to true powerhouses, a Tailed Beast was little more than a toy to be tossed around.

As for the fifty percent enhancement to his Sharingan's ocular power, it was practically negligible to him now.

His ocular power had already undergone numerous enhancements... its intensity was unprecedented in the entire history of the Uchiha clan.

Jie even suspected that Madara Uchiha's Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan couldn't match his current visual prowess.

But what did it matter how strong his ocular power was? A breakthrough to the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan was still nowhere in sight.

And without that breakthrough, a quantitative increase would never trigger a qualitative change.

Jie had already made his peace with it, though. With his current ocular strength, coupled with his impending breakthrough to an advanced Sage Body, his Mangekyo Sharingan was just as good as an Eternal Mangekyo.

Add Senjutsu into the mix, and even if Madara Uchiha resurrected and fused with the Ten-Tails, Jie was confident they would fight to a standstill.

In fact, if Jie went all out...activating all his buffs alongside the Eight Inner Gates...even the legendary "King of Dance" wouldn't dare step onto the battlefield so casually.

As for Kaguya Otsutsuki? There was still plenty of time before she became a problem. No need to rush.

Of the three rewards, the first two offered minor improvements, but it was the so-called "Evolution Potion" that piqued Jie's curiosity.

Ever since the system rewarded him with a Resurrection Coin five years ago, it felt as though an entirely new door had opened.

Over the years, the system had continuously calculated rewards for him, and many of the items clearly didn't belong in the shinobi world.

Take the enchanted Desert Eagle with infinite ammo, for example. Though it packed enough punch to kill with a single shot, the reaction speed of a ninja meant it was practically impossible to land a hit from more than ten meters away. It was practically useless.

There were plenty of useless novelties, but there were highly practical items, too. For instance, a Senzu Bean from the Dragon Ball universe. Eating just one could instantly restore a person to peak condition.

Unfortunately, Jie had only ever received one, and Sasuke had mistaken it for a piece of candy and eaten it.

Losing such a vital life-saving item had left Jie so furious that he gave Sasuke two harsh smacks and had me fast for a few days.

Since a Senzu Bean kept a person completely full for days anyway, Jie figured he wouldn't waste perfectly good village rations while simultaneously teaching Sasuke a lesson he wouldn't forget.

Then there was the Sea King from the pirate world...a beast hundreds of meters long. If the shinobi world wasn't already accustomed to massive summoning beasts, releasing a creature of that size would have terrified countless people.

But Jie had to admit, the Sea King's meat was absolutely delicious and packed with massive amounts of energy.

Eating it for a few days noticeably accelerated his progress with the Lightning Release body-tempering technique.

It made Jie sigh in realization. With food like that readily available, it was no wonder the people in that pirate world possessed the stamina to fight for days on end, boasting physiques tough enough to deflect bullets.

As for this Evolution Potion, the name alone suggested it was nothing ordinary. He just didn't know if it was meant to evolve humans or animals.

Since there were eyes on him, Jie couldn't extract the potion right then and there. He had arrived empty-handed... suddenly producing a glass vial out of thin air would raise too many questions.

Pushing the thought aside, Jie dismissed the three kids to go rest, while he and Izumi headed toward the Hokage building.

"How were the exam results for those three?"

As they passed by the secretariat's office, Tsunade looked up from her desk and asked.

"Very good," Jie smiled. "Each of them is outstanding. In fact, their excellence exceeded my expectations."

"Have you chosen their Jonin instructor yet?" Tsunade pressed.

Jie's smile instantly froze.

Jonin instructor?

How could he have forgotten that graduating Genin needed a Jonin instructor to lead them on missions?

Having joined the Anbu on his very first day after graduation, Jie had completely bypassed the traditional Genin squad experience.

And since taking over as Hokage, all routine assignments like squad formations were handed off to the secretariat.

For a moment, the concept of a Jonin instructor had completely slipped his mind.

Since those three were the only ones to graduate early, they naturally had to form a three-man squad. But given their absurd talent and combat strength, who in Konoha was even qualified to lead them?

The Sannin were far too busy managing various aspects of the village. As for Kakashi? The kids had nearly beaten him black and blue during the exam.

If Kakashi were made their instructor, they would likely drain him of everything he knew within a matter of days.

As for anyone else in the village, it was completely out of the question. Most Jonin couldn't even defeat the trio in a straight fight.

Should he have them retrace his steps, join the Anbu, and execute covert missions across the ninja world?

The problem was that the ninja world was currently in an era of unprecedented peace.

Under Konoha's overwhelming authority, the other major ninja villages had drastically scaled back their covert operations. Retracing his own path probably wouldn't provide the kids with any real tempering or growth.

The more he thought about it, the more his head ached. Sometimes, having subordinates who were too talented was a genuine headache.

Noticing his troubled expression, Izumi immediately understood his dilemma. She offered a gentle smile.

"If you can't find a suitable instructor, Jie... why don't you be their instructor yourself?"

Jie's eyes lit up instantly.

Izumi's suggestion was brilliant! Why hadn't he thought of that? He had been too close to the problem to see the obvious solution...he hadn't factored himself into the equation.

Whether it was strength or free time, he was the perfect candidate in all of Konoha to guide those three. He also understood them better than anyone else, ensuring he could help them grow at the fastest possible rate.

But most importantly, if he became their Jonin instructor, he would naturally have to lead them on missions outside the village.

And leaving the village on official mission business meant he could slack off and relax out in the open, and Tsunade wouldn't be able to find a single flaw in his excuse!

A brilliant smile spread across Jie's face...

"As expected of you, Izumi. That's a fantastic idea!"
