Chapter 1 - A Mobile Phone: The Story of a Little Child’s

Little Rahul's New Friend

In a small town of West Bengal lived an eight-year-old boy named Rahul. He was cheerful, playful, and a little mischievous. He studied well in school and played football with his friends every afternoon.

His mother would often say,

— "Rahul, don't run too much, you might fall!"

Rahul would laugh and reply,

— "I'm a superhero, Mom!"

One day, Rahul's father bought a new smartphone for himself. He gave his old phone to Rahul and said,

— "Here, you can watch cartoons and play games."

From that day on, Rahul found a new friend. At first, he only watched cartoons. Slowly, he became interested in games and videos.

His mother would call,

— "Rahul, come and eat!"

He would reply,

— "Just five more minutes, Mom!"

But those five minutes would quietly turn into an hour.

The Slow Change

Within a few days, changes began to appear. Rahul stopped going to the playground. He ignored his friends when they called him to play. Instead of opening his books at his study table, he played games on his phone.

His school results started getting worse. One day his teacher said,

— "Rahul, what happened? You used to be a very good student!"

But Rahul remained silent.

He stayed awake late at night using his phone. The blue light left dark circles under his eyes. He couldn't wake up early and felt tired in school.

One day, his mother angrily said,

— "This phone is ruining your life!"

Rahul shouted back,

— "No one will take my phone!"

It was the first time he had ever behaved like that with his mother. She quietly wiped her tears.

A Terrible Incident

One day, while returning home from school, Rahul was crossing the road. His eyes were fixed on his phone screen. He was playing the final level of a game and didn't want to lose.

Suddenly, a speeding bike hit him.

People screamed. Rahul fell onto the road. His arm was broken, and he injured his head.

He was rushed to the hospital. The doctor said,

— "His physical injuries will heal, but you must take care of his eyes and mental health."

His parents were devastated. His mother cried while gently stroking his head.

Lying on the hospital bed, Rahul realized his big mistake. His friends were outside playing, and he was stuck in a hospital room.

A New Beginning

After a long month, Rahul finally recovered. When he returned home, he told his father,

— "Dad, please keep the phone. I will only use it for studying."

His mother looked at him in surprise.

Rahul started playing in the field again. He laughed and talked with his friends. He focused on his studies.

He understood that mobile phones are not bad, but excessive use can destroy a child's future.

One day, his mother hugged him and said,

— "My superhero is back!"

Rahul smiled and replied,

— "Yes, Mom. This time I will be the hero of my own life, not of a phone."
