Chapter 108 - 110. Target: Olympus

[ Before you jump in to the chapter take a moment to think about what just happened.

Humanity fired its first weapon in space.

Olympus was almost destroyed.

And the aliens have now confirmed that Earth can fight back.

But the most terrifying part of this chapter isn't the battle.

It's the result.

Because the moment humanity proved it could resist… the enemy didn't retreat.

They accelerated the invasion.

Now eleven alien scouts are heading toward Earth, and they will arrive in six days.

The real war for Earth has officially begun. ]

The Olympus chamber fell completely silent.

Every screen showed the same targeting marker.

PRIMARY TARGET: OLYMPUS FACILITY

Adrian stared at it for several seconds.

Then he slowly looked at Elara.

"Well," he said quietly, "that's not ideal."

Elara didn't respond.

Her eyes were locked on the orbital map where the second alien ship hovered above the moon's shadow.

It had been watching the entire time.

Waiting.

Studying.

And now—

It had chosen its target.

"Olympus," she said calmly.

The system responded immediately.

THREAT CONFIRMED

Adrian crossed his arms.

"So the aliens figured out where the brain of Earth's defense system is."

"Yes."

"And they're about to delete it."

"Most likely."

The council channel exploded open again.

Secretary-General Kovac appeared, looking pale.

"Is that targeting data correct?"

Elara nodded.

"Yes."

One of the military commanders shouted,

"That facility must be evacuated immediately!"

Adrian shook his head.

"Too late."

He pointed to the alien ship's telemetry.

"It's already charging a weapon."

The council fell silent.

The alien vessel had begun powering up a massive energy array along its underside.

This one looked far larger than the cannon used by the scout earlier.

Elara's voice dropped slightly.

"Olympus estimates weapon yield equivalent to multiple nuclear strikes."

Adrian let out a slow breath.

"So if that fires…"

"This facility is gone."

Another alert appeared.

WEAPON CHARGE: 23%

Adrian leaned against the console.

"Okay."

He looked at Elara.

"We need a plan."

She was already thinking.

"Olympus, defensive options."

The system immediately calculated possibilities.

Thousands of simulations ran across the screens.

Most of them ended the same way.

FACILITY DESTRUCTION

Adrian frowned.

"That's discouraging."

But one simulation kept repeating.

Elara noticed it.

"Olympus… run that again."

The projection changed.

A satellite cluster appeared above Earth.

Adrian recognized it instantly.

"Wait."

"That's the Helios construction orbit."

"Yes."

"But Helios isn't finished yet."

Elara nodded.

"But the power core is already assembled."

Adrian's eyes widened.

"You're thinking of firing the unfinished weapon?"

"Yes."

"That thing isn't even aligned yet."

"Olympus can align it."

"And the energy output?"

"Enough for one shot."

Adrian rubbed his face.

"So we're betting Earth's survival on a half-built space laser."

She looked at him.

"Yes."

The alien weapon charge climbed.

WEAPON CHARGE: 41%

Adrian sighed.

"Well then."

He cracked his knuckles.

"Let's build a laser."

The council members listened in stunned silence as Elara issued commands through Olympus.

Around the world, engineers received new instructions.

The partially assembled Helios platform shifted orbit.

Solar panels rotated.

Power conduits activated.

Inside Olympus, the control interface lit up like a battlefield.

Adrian watched the energy levels climb.

"Power core stabilizing."

Elara nodded.

"Good."

The alien ship continued charging its weapon.

WEAPON CHARGE: 56%

The countdown had begun.

High above Earth, the Helios platform slowly rotated.

It wasn't beautiful.

It wasn't even complete.

But it was humanity's first true space weapon.

Adrian looked at the targeting system.

"Range?"

Elara checked the calculations.

"Barely enough."

"Olympus confident?"

"Sixty-three percent."

He winced.

"That's not comforting."

Another alert appeared.

WEAPON CHARGE: 72%

The alien ship's cannon glowed brighter.

Energy swirled around its organic hull like lightning.

Inside the Olympus chamber, tension filled the air.

Adrian whispered,

"First battle for Earth."

Elara said nothing.

Her focus was absolute.

"Olympus… final alignment."

The Helios platform finished rotating.

The massive laser array pointed toward the alien ship.

Adrian looked at the display.

"Tell me that thing can actually hit."

"It will."

The alien vessel's cannon reached maximum charge.

WEAPON CHARGE: 91%

Adrian swallowed.

"Now would be a good time."

Elara raised her hand.

"Olympus… fire."

The Helios platform unleashed its energy.

A blinding beam of concentrated solar power shot across space.

The laser struck the alien ship directly.

The explosion lit up orbit like a miniature star.

Adrian shielded his eyes.

"Did we hit it?"

The feed cleared.

The alien vessel had been struck.

Hard.

Large sections of its organic hull were burning away.

Adrian laughed in disbelief.

"We did it!"

But the celebration lasted only a second.

Because the alien ship was still there.

Damaged.

But alive.

Adrian's smile faded.

"Oh come on."

The alien vessel slowly stabilized.

Its weapon flickered.

The energy charge collapsed.

Elara exhaled softly.

"The shot interrupted the attack."

Adrian leaned back.

"So Olympus survives."

"For now."

But Olympus suddenly detected another signal.

The alien carrier far beyond Mars had responded.

Adrian frowned.

"What now?"

The translation appeared.

SCOUT ENGAGEMENT CONFIRMED

Another line appeared.

PLANETARY DEFENSE CAPABILITY UPDATED

Adrian crossed his arms.

"Great."

"They're learning again."

But the next message was the worst one yet.

INITIATING PHASE TWO

Elara's eyes narrowed.

"What phase two?"

The alien carrier transmitted another command.

And suddenly—

The remaining eleven scout ships changed course.

Adrian watched their trajectories.

"They're all heading for Earth."

"Yes."

"And they're moving faster."

Olympus recalculated their arrival.

The number appeared.

Adrian whispered,

"That's impossible."

The scouts had just accelerated.

Their arrival time changed.

From sixteen days…

To six days.

Adrian stared at the screen.

"So much for preparation."

Elara nodded slowly.

"The real battle begins in less than a week."

And this time—

Humanity wouldn't be fighting one scout.

It would be fighting eleven.
