Chapter 2 - First Encounter

The next thing I knew, I was in a long wagon.

I looked to my left and to my right and it was full of other people. If you told me to guess, I would say about twelve. Questions filled my head, but it was hard to think straight with this dreadful headache.

All of us seemed to be bound to the walls of the wagon, and a sheet of cloth was hoisted above. It was likely to prevent others from seeing the contents inside.

I tried to yell but to no avail. A white cloth was tied around our mouths. My hands wouldn't budge either, it feels like a thin rope is holding them together.

Some of the others were crying, some were shaking, and some were still asleep. I was only slightly troubled from this situation, as this was nothing new to me. It only brought up bad memories from a long time ago.

The sight of the others were, unnerving to say the least. We had no idea what happened or where we were going, just that we were in danger.

There was a whole variety of different people, some big, some small, women, even a couple of children. What are these people planning on doing to us?

After a few hours, the cloth overhead was pulled back. It looked to be about midnight, and two men in long black coats were signaling for us to come out one by one.

Those who didn't comply were struck with an odd metal tool, similar to a baton, until we were eventually all outside and lined up.

As dark as it was, a faint glow of a large building could be seen nearby.

Two more men behind us came to undo our masks. They started with a young woman who didn't look much older than I.

"Mmph… Help! Someone!"

The sound of a gunshot was heard and the woman fell to the floor. The other woman next to her let out a muffled scream, a terrified expression spread across her face.

"Listen up! Next one of you idiots to make a sound and we'll blow your fucking head off!"

The people next to me exchanged looks before nodding to the man who seemed to be in charge of the others.

The men continued to untie the cloths over our mouths before they explained what they wanted with us. No voices were heard from us, just the quick breaths of the ones who still have not calmed down to some degree.

"I don't want to waste time with you, you're getting auctioned as slaves for whatever the hell your buyer wants."

A man a couple spots down from me attempted to protest.

"Slaves? Like hell I'd become a slave! Who the fuck do you people think you a-"

As expected, another shot rang out before the man dropped dead in the field. A few whimpers were heard amongst the line from the loud gunshot.

From the looks of it, the men doing this have been at it for quite some time. They may not have been killing us for making noise, but just for wasting time with our pointless cries and rebellion.

If what that boss man said was true, then the moment we made it into that auction house, there really won't be another chance at escaping.

I glanced around to count the men. There seem to be five men here, which usually wouldn't be a problem for the amount of people here, but being tied at the wrists didn't help a lot. Them being armed with handguns didn't help much either.

"Get behind me, and if any of you move even a centimeter out of line, my men will kill you on the spot."

We nodded and made a single file line behind the man. Two men were positioned in the back, and two in the middle, with the leader leading the way.

The terrain leading to the building was grassy, with an occasional set of rocks going along smooth plains with semi-tall grass.

'Great, not only am I gonna get sold off to some loser who isn't going to get me a job, but now my coat is gonna be stained.'

"Come along now. Your new and wonderful lives are just ahead of you!"

Now I'm no genius in comedy or whatever, but I believe that was some complex form of sarcasm.

We started what seemed like a long and gruesome journey in the field toward the auction house. The sound of boots rustling in the grass would usually put me at ease, but definitely not in this context.

After a few minutes, a younger man tripped on one of the rocky areas.

"Ack! I-I'm sorry!"

"Shut the fuck up and get up. You're lucky we are far more forgiving than the boss."

Blood ran down the poor man's wrists as he was back on his feet with haste. But I noticed something a lot more valuable, a slight tear in the rope on the man's wrists.

'What if I were to try falling like that? I've been putting on an act ever since I was brought to this land, so surely I can really put it to use here.'

To put my plan into action, I had to wait a few more minutes. However, waiting too long would risk the sound of five gunshots being heard by the people at the auction house.

We were only a few kilometers away, and the size of the auction house was otherworldly. It almost seemed like aliens or someone from the future came to give a blueprint to the builders.

Luck must be in my favor, as another mound of rocks was approaching. Once we were close enough, I put on my best act.

"Urg!"

While 'writhing' in pain on the ground, my hands scanned for a piece of rock sharp enough to slice the rope.

"Ugh, these idiots can't walk straight?! Hey, shithead, get up already!"

'Man these guys cuss a lot.'

"Oh Lord! I am so sorry massah!"

The man let out an annoyed sigh.

"I'll put a bullet in between your eyes if you don't pick your ass up!"

Slice

'Perfect.'

"Ah, yessuh, I'm is getting up now…"

I made sure to hold my hands tight behind my back to give off the appearance that nothing has changed. Now I had to get close enough to grab a gun off one of the men's hips.

"Oh Lord! I's struggling suh… please help me suh!"

"Fucking hell…"

The man came to my side and hoisted me up. I swiped the gun as stealthily as I could, praying he wouldn't feel anything off.

I tried to hide my devilish grin as he was about to push me back into line.

Bang

So far, everything was going to plan. I ducked down right after the gunshot, everyone else in line naturally followed.

I didn't make any erratic movement when I shot him to not draw attention to myself.

"Hey! What the fuck was that?!"

"Chaios!"

Chaios must have been the name of the man I killed. For a first kill, I was expecting to be mentally scarred but… I guess it's different for me. I might be some twisted kind of special in some sense.

"Shit! Did someone leak our plans to the authorities!"

"Calm down everyone. The shot came from where he was standing. Must've been a misfire. Someone check on the guy and someone look at all of the things behind me."

I know I just killed one of your buddies, but calling me a thing was too far man.

The other man positioned in the middle went to check on his buddy who lay motionless on the grass. The two men in the back checked each future slave and went up the line as they did so.

As I was still crouched, I had the gun hidden in my sleeve so the man tending to the guy I shot wouldn't see it.

Once the two men got close enough, I took a shot at the man who was sent to check on his dead partner.

Bang

I took two more at the last couple men who were about to pull their guns from the holsters.

Bang Bang

At this point, the others were scared straight at my actions. I wonder why they wouldn't have any sense of hope, even when I am killing their captors.

My vision was blurry from the adrenaline, and my ears were ringing from the gunshots. Even still, I managed to take one last shot at the leader, running toward me.

Bang
