Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: He Was Born for The Stage

She held her breath as Lu Jingyao's deep voice rang out. All the lights suddenly blazed on, accompanying his a cappella singing. Then, the backup dancers all walked onto the stage in an orderly fashion, and fireworks exploded on both sides of the stage, illuminating the area.

Su Xia couldn't help but cough lightly. She subtly covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes still fixed on Lu Jingyao on stage. Her blood surged with his electrifying singing and dancing; all her senses seemed to detach from her body. She felt as if the person on stage was radiating light.

He was born to be a star. He was born for the stage.

It was supposed to be a star-studded event, attended by fans of various celebrities, but in Lu Jingyao's presence, it felt like his concert. Screams and excited shouts filled Su Xia's ears, and she felt inexplicably proud.

The person she admired was just that outstanding.

She had witnessed his growth from an unknown newcomer to who he was today. In those nine years, she had also grown from a little girl.

Su Xia was always someone who only had a short attention span.

But when it came to liking Lu Jingyao, she remained as enthusiastic as ever.

This was also the thing she had persisted in the longest.

Amidst the deafening screams of the audience, Xue Ming'an walked to Su Xia's side: "Stop watching, go back and touch up your makeup and change your clothes, get ready for the final group sing-along."

He lowered his voice: "Lu Jingyao won't participate, he'll leave after this song."

Su Xia took a few last, wistful, and reluctant glances, then followed Xue Ming'an through the countless staff members below the stage, hurrying towards the dressing room, only to bump into someone she absolutely didn't want to see.

Gu Yu stood with his arms crossed, smiling broadly, tilting his head and whistling casually, "Oh, where did you come from?"

His knowing tone made Su Xia roll her eyes. She ignored him, pushing open the door and lifting her skirt, saying indifferently, "You're really free these days. Has your popularity declined or you're out of work? The former king of period dramas has fallen to the level of gossip."

Gu Yu touched his nose, laughing heartlessly, "You're getting impatient."

Su Xia turned back and smiled at him: "Get out."

"What," she raised an eyebrow slightly, "you want to watch girls change clothes?"

Gu Yu shrugged: "I can too."

This time, Su Xia didn't need to speak. Xue Ming'an put his arm around his shoulder and pushed him to the door: "We'll talk later, we're busy here!"

  Gu Yu: "."

He panicked: "Hey bro, you clearly have a changing room, and I was just joking..."

Before he could finish speaking, Xue Ming'an slammed the door shut.

  Su Xia laughed without restraint.

Gu Yu was such a nice guy, but he had such a big mouth.

She first met him while filming a movie. She thought he was refined and gentle, but it turned out that was just an act. He actually wanted to woo her, and after she firmly rejected him, they ended up being like buddies.

Their management teams were also very familiar with each other, and bantering was a common occurrence.

Su Xia emerged from the dressing room in a wine-red velvet gown. Two strands of her hair were pulled from behind her ears and tied back, secured with a red bow hair clip—simple yet extraordinary. Her fair skin seemed to glow, instantly exuding an aura of nobility and elegance.
