Damon did not waste time. He rushed Obito again.
Thanks to the Sharingan, Obito could see him coming, but Kamui was out of the game for the moment. He was not fast enough to teleport away, and the minimum time needed to turn intangible again had not passed yet.
That left him only one option.
"Shinra Tensei!"
Damon was blasted back by the invisible force, but to his eyes it was nothing more than a desperate move. Obito did not have enough chakra left to keep throwing attacks around like that with the Rinnegan, and using it would only wear him down even more.
The moment the force faded, Damon threw one of his three-pronged kunai at Obito, using wind chakra to make it fly faster and hit harder, just to make sure he would not slip away through Kamui the second it became available again.
The kunai was halfway there, and Damon had already gathered the chakra needed for Hiraishin, when a giant blue sword suddenly appeared and knocked the three-pronged blade aside, pinning it firmly into the ground.
That did not go unnoticed.
Damon looked up, and there it was again.
That same annoyance.
The same irritation.
And the man standing inside that giant blue samurai only made it worse.
"Tch."
Damon clicked his tongue.
Every reincarnation of his brother Indra had been a pain in the ass. Always annoying, always drowning in some endless hatred Damon had never truly understood. Honestly, he respected Madara a lot more than most. In his eyes, Itachi had been far more twisted than Madara ever was, and he had already seen once, when he lived as Hashirama, how much Madara had changed. The man had even set his hatred aside for a time to build the village with him.
And now here he was again, trapped in that same hatred, fighting for something meaningless.
A genjutsu was supposed to bring peace to the world?
What kind of bullshit was that?
How old was he, four?
No, that would be an insult to actual four-year-olds.
That was not disappointment.
That was just sad.
"That's what you get for trusting an Uchiha," Kurama muttered, rubbing salt into the wound and making the blond even more irritated, but Damon gave him no answer. This was not the time to start arguing in the middle of a war.
A second blue samurai appeared to the right of the first one. At the same time, Damon felt Kaia step beside him, spitting out the broken remains of Madara's fan. Without taking his eyes off the two giant samurai in front of him, he reached down and scratched her behind the ears.
The she-wolf said nothing, but her body began growing again until she matched the size of the samurai. Then she let out the deepest growl she could manage.
What followed was cold.
Real cold.
The entire battlefield began freezing around the wolf, though the cold did not bother Damon at all. The air itself seemed to stiffen.
Then Kaia launched herself at one of the samurai at full speed and bit down on one of its four arms right as it moved to block her jaws. The instant her fangs touched the blue arm, ice spread through it. Still, that was not enough to stop her. Kaia bit harder and harder until cracks spread across the frozen limb, and finally her fangs punched straight through what was supposed to be one of the strongest defenses in the shinobi world.
Damon watched Kaia and Madara's clone fighting and could not help the smile pulling at his mouth. At first he had not been fully sure about making the wolf his sacred animal, but he had definitely been wrong. He was actually proud of that decision. Every time he stood near a wolf, even one he had never seen before, he felt like he was among family... and even though he had only spent a few months with Kaia, that feeling had only grown stronger.
Madara took advantage of Damon's distraction and attacked with the jutsu that had made his name famous. With a single hand seal, he unleashed a literal inferno toward the blond. Damon looked at the massive wave of flames melting part of the ice around them and, without forming a single hand seal, a tornado equal in size appeared in front of him. Strengthened by divine energy, he sent it straight into the sea of fire.
The tornado kept growing bigger and bigger, pulling in every loose particle around it and feeding itself more life and more power. Great chunks of rock from the battlefield were dragged into the winds, and the tornado tore through the samurai with ease. The moment it collided with the flames, it began swallowing them without stopping, turning into a firestorm and pushing the temperature to suffocating levels.
Shit, Madara thought.
Even in his current state, he could tell that if he did not get out of the path of that gigantic tornado, things would end badly for him. He quickly ordered the Susanoo to throw itself as far away as possible, then used one of its hands to launch himself out of the way. Before he touched the ground, Madara formed another seal and charged straight at the blond.
Damon did the same.
His sky-blue eyes turned orange, and black-red markings spread across his body. Then, just as he got close enough to Madara's giant Susanoo, an enormous nine-tailed fox made of chakra formed around him and slammed its fists into the samurai, creating a shockwave and a crater beneath them.
Kaia and the clone were still locked in their own battle. The she-wolf had gained the upper hand thanks to the ice, which kept freezing the Susanoo's joints for brief moments, but it always recovered quickly with the help of its three remaining arms. The clone had stopped trying to block her directly after losing one of its arms, and every time it tried to regenerate it, Kaia threw herself at it to stop that from happening. Stains of blood marked her white fur from the near misses she had suffered while dodging the giant blue sword.
Then Kaia suddenly shifted her attention toward Madara's clone, growling and baring her fangs. A large black shape rushed toward her from behind the samurai at full speed, and a small smile appeared on the wolf's face, one the clone never noticed.
Madara ordered the Susanoo to attack the giant wolf.
It never got the chance.
Like a black bolt, a wolf the same size as the white one—maybe even bigger—appeared and sank its fangs into the Susanoo's neck, biting through it instantly and tearing the head right off.
The blue Susanoo slowly started crumbling away, leaving Madara's wood clone stunned as it began to rise, only to get crushed brutally beneath the black wolf's paw. Then the beast let out a growl that made the ground tremble around it. The fur along its back rose, and it released the loudest howl anyone there had ever heard in their life.
The sound carried so much raw dominance that the shinobi closest to it covered their ears and dropped to their knees. The pressure coming from that wolf felt so overwhelming it almost seemed like the Kyubi itself had appeared...
Every dog and every ninja wolf lowered their heads instantly, too afraid to meet the black wolf's gaze and anger it.
"A-Alpha..." Hana Inuzuka muttered. "Never in my life did I think I'd see one that strong."
"N-no, that's not the Alpha," one of the ninken answered, leaving her stunned. "That's Naruto."
Hana's eyes widened at those words. She immediately started sniffing the aura, trying to catch Damon's scent... and there it was.
She cursed herself for not realizing it sooner.
The smell coming from the blond screamed Alpha from kilometers away. She had just never noticed it before because he had kept it suppressed. And the thought that such a monster had been walking around her village this whole time without her realizing it made her blood pump faster.
It was terrifying.
And exciting.
That train of thought was cut off the moment thousands of wolves answered Orien's call and threw themselves into the battlefield, tearing apart every White Zetsu that got in their way.
