"Damon."
"Could you at least wipe that stupid excited smile off your face?" Kurama said, annoyed.
That only made Damon's grin widen, which immediately started making the Bijuu uneasy.
"You know, Kurama, in my life I've seen around five Primordials... one of them even gave me his domain and was blessed by others. But there's one thing I'll never forget..." Damon said while looking up at the sky, still smiling. "The feeling of being an ant standing next to them. Not even kidding. It felt like they could kill me just by thinking about it."
He let out a small breath.
"And after all this time, knowing I'm still that far from them... it makes me happy. One of my goals was always to surpass them."
Three figures landed beside Damon and looked at him like he had grown three heads.
"What are you staring at, dobe?" Sasuke Uchiha asked, lifting his eyes toward whatever Damon had been looking at.
Damon lowered his gaze and looked at the three of them.
Team Seven again.
Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and Kakashi Hatake.
"And Obito?" Damon asked, looking at Kakashi, who lowered his gaze for a moment.
"I see," Damon said simply.
"Infinite Tsukuyomi," Madara's voice echoed from behind them.
Here we go, Damon thought.
The mark in his hand began to glow, and nine Truth-Seeking Orbs moved behind him. Mentally, he ordered one of them to surround the four of them, covering Team Seven. The moment the black barrier sealed them inside, everything turned dark. Nobody could see anything, not even their own hands, and nobody said a word. They could not hear anything from the outside either, until the first words finally broke the silence.
"Shin: Jukai Kōtan."
A few seconds later, they felt the whole ground outside shaking like an earthquake. Then the Truth-Seeking Orb slowly opened, revealing a gigantic tree standing in the middle of the battlefield. Hanging from it were what looked like thousands of human bodies, and when Damon focused a little more, he could already feel the tree preparing to absorb the chakra of the people trapped under the genjutsu.
"HAHAHAHA!"
A slightly crazed laugh echoed out, catching Team Seven's attention.
"At last, I've put an end to the hatred of this world," Madara said with a victorious smile. "I am the savior of this world full of hatred. This is the end."
"You're an idiot," Damon said flatly, cutting him off with the most dismissive look he could manage. "You disappoint me, Madara."
That expression on the blond's face was the exact same one he had worn the first time he met him, and it irritated Madara even more than before.
Madara opened his mouth to answer, but no words came out.
A black hand burst through his chest, right where his heart should have been, stealing the air from his lungs.
"This world has not been saved... and this is far from over."
Madara could not move a single muscle, not from shock, not from rage, not from pain. All he could do was stare as Black Zetsu, now controlling Obito's lifeless body, lifted his head to look at Damon.
"A being from another world who thinks he can come and do whatever he wants. The chakra that was stolen will be returned, and you will not be able to do anything to stop it. Just as you have been watching me... I've been watching you too."
Every eye turned toward Damon. He had not reacted physically at all to Zetsu's words, but that did not mean the others were not confused. None of them fully understood what Zetsu was talking about, especially the part about him being from another world.
"Zetsu, I believed in you... but you were only my will," Madara growled, unable to move, ignoring Zetsu's earlier words and focusing only on the betrayal.
"You're wrong again, Madara..." Zetsu said coldly. "I am the will of the Shinju."
As soon as he finished speaking, black markings spread across Madara's body and a monstrous amount of chakra began pouring into him. Madara's body started swelling and mutating right in front of them.
Sasuke formed a Chidori and rushed forward, trying to stop whatever was happening before it could get worse. Damon clicked his tongue and moved too. He was not about to let the last Uchiha kill himself over something so stupid.
The second Sasuke got close to Madara's grotesque body, a disgusting mass of hair burst out toward him, like it was alive and trying to devour him. Sasuke tried to cut through it with Chidori, but there was simply too much. The hair wrapped around his arm, and he could immediately feel how insanely dense it was.
Before it could fully surround him, Damon flashed in with a pitch-black katana formed from one of the Truth-Seeking Orbs and sliced the hair apart, forcing Sasuke back with a shove before even more could reach him.
Damon kept cutting through the endless mass of hair while trying to stop it from crushing the Uchiha, using the rest of the Truth-Seeking Orbs to help destroy it. Even so, the sheer amount was ridiculous, enough to force them both to retreat.
Damon shot Sasuke an irritated look.
"Do you really think the best way to stop whatever this is is to stab it in the chest with a Chidori?" he asked without even looking at him properly, all his attention still fixed on Madara's growing body.
Sasuke frowned.
"And what's your idea?" he asked with obvious sarcasm.
"To hit it hard enough to blow it apart and take half the country with it is not exactly safe..." Damon replied dryly. "Come on, Uchiha. You can at least feel how absurd the amount of chakra gathering there is."
"Mhm."
"Try using your brain more often. It usually pays off."
The black-haired Uchiha did not answer. He only glared at the blond, only for Kakashi to immediately stop both of them with a look that made it clear this was not the time to start arguing.
The deformed body slowly began shrinking, and a female figure started taking shape. She was pale as fresh snow, dressed in a white kimono, with a third eye on her forehead and horns that looked almost like rabbit ears. Her massive white hair fell around her like a cloak, and when she slowly opened her eyes, Naruto saw the pale, pupil-less eyes of a Hyuga.
"Beautiful," Naruto muttered under his breath, unheard by anyone else.
But that was not all he noticed.
The moment Kaguya opened her eyes, he saw confusion in them for a split second, almost like she did not understand where she was. Then came sadness.
And after that... nothing.
It was the same strange feeling he had back when he saw her in the past. That kind of sudden change in personality had never sat right with him. The Kaguya from before and the Kaguya after were too different in his eyes.
