Chapter 7 Continued — Shadows of War

The silence inside the bunker felt heavier than the explosions above.

Anya stood frozen as the massive steel doors sealed completely, cutting her off from the chaos outside. The locking system activated with a deep mechanical sound that echoed through the underground chamber.

For a moment—

everything became terrifyingly quiet.

Only the distant vibration of gunfire reached her ears.

Her breathing sounded too loud in the enclosed space.

Too real.

Too alone.

Rows of emergency lights flickered across the bunker walls, painting everything in shades of red. Screens suddenly activated around her, displaying live surveillance footage from different parts of the mansion.

And then she saw it.

Smoke rising near the main gate.

Black armored vehicles crashing through reinforced barriers.

Masked men pouring inside like shadows.

Bullets rained across the courtyard.

Guards fell.

Others fired back instantly.

The mansion had transformed into a battlefield.

Anya's stomach twisted.

This wasn't a threat anymore.

This was war.

A sharp voice suddenly echoed through hidden speakers.

"Miss Anya, please remain calm."

She turned quickly.

A female voice—mechanical but gentle.

"This bunker is secured under Level Omega protection."

"Who—who are you?" Anya asked shakily.

"I am the mansion's defense AI system."

Of course.

Even the house itself obeyed Raihan.

Her eyes returned to the screens.

And there—

moving through smoke and gunfire—

was Raihan.

Dressed entirely in black.

Weapon steady in his hand.

Unmoving amidst chaos.

Men twice his size fell before reaching him.

Every movement precise.

Efficient.

Merciless.

He didn't look human.

He looked like war itself.

Her heartbeat stumbled.

This was the man everyone feared.

The Devil in Black.

Another explosion shook the outer compound.

The camera feed flickered violently before stabilizing again.

Adil appeared beside Raihan, shouting something she couldn't hear.

Enemy reinforcements entered from the west wing.

More gunfire.

More destruction.

Then suddenly—

one of the screens turned static.

Warning symbols flashed.

INTERNAL BREACH DETECTED.

Anya's breath stopped.

Internal?

That meant—

Someone was already inside.

The bunker lights dimmed momentarily.

A heavy thud echoed somewhere beyond the sealed corridor.

Her grip tightened around the emergency device Raihan had given her.

Another sound followed.

Closer this time.

Footsteps.

Slow.

Measured.

Impossible.

"No…" she whispered.

The bunker was supposed to be impenetrable.

The AI voice returned immediately.

"Warning. Unauthorized presence detected near Sector Three."

Cold fear spread through her veins.

Someone had bypassed Raihan's defenses.

Someone who knew this place.

The footsteps stopped outside the corridor door.

Silence stretched painfully.

Then—

A faint metallic scratching sound.

Like someone testing the lock.

Anya stepped backward instinctively.

Her pulse roared in her ears.

Should she press the device?

Was this the moment he meant?

Outside—

gunfire intensified again.

As if the entire attack existed to distract one purpose.

Her.

The lock panel sparked suddenly.

Lights flickered.

The system resisted.

But whoever stood outside wasn't giving up.

A distorted male voice came through the door speaker.

Low.

Amused.

"So this is where the king hides his treasure…"

Anya's blood ran cold.

They weren't here to kill Raihan.

They were here—

for her.

Her thumb hovered over the device.

Raihan's voice echoed in her memory.

If anything happens… press this.

The door groaned under pressure.

Metal bending slowly.

Time ran out.

With shaking hands—

Anya pressed the button.

For one second—

nothing happened.

Then the entire bunker shifted.

Hidden weapon systems activated.

Defense turrets emerged from the ceiling.

Emergency lockdown engaged.

And somewhere above—

Raihan froze mid-battle.

His communicator flashed red.

ANYA — DISTRESS SIGNAL ACTIVATED.

His expression changed instantly.

Cold rage replacing calm control.

"They're inside," he muttered.

Adil looked stunned. "Impossible—"

Raihan was already moving.

Faster than before.

Deadlier.

Because now—

this wasn't business.

This was personal.

Back in the bunker—

the corridor exploded outward.

Smoke filled the entrance.

A shadow stepped through the wreckage.

Tall.

Armed.

Laughing softly.

Anya's breath hitched as the stranger removed his mask.

Familiar eyes met hers.

And horror struck instantly.

"You…" she whispered.

The man smiled.

"Miss me?"
