Chapter 108 - Chpt 102: TOTAL WAR!!

The atmosphere at Pummelo Stadium was no longer that of a sporting event; it was a pressurized chamber of history in the making. As the sun hit its zenith, the massive stone floor of the arena ground open, revealing a battlefield of sand, rock, and artificial water pools.

The crowd of fifty thousand fell into a deafening silence as Zeth emerged from the southern tunnel. Behind him, the Eight of the Abyss moved in a terrifying, synchronized phalanx. The silver-black scales of the Lunar Charizard shimmered under the direct sun, while the green-chrome armor of the Shiny Shelgon reflected the stadium lights like a polished emerald.

From the northern gate, Drake walked out, his signature orange bandana tied tight. Behind him loomed his legendary Dragonite, followed by a veteran lineup and two massive, hooded crates containing his new prospects.

The Pummelo Stadium floor groaned as it shifted into a massive, rugged terrain of jagged cliffs and deep trenches. Fifty thousand fans roared as the two titans took their positions.

CHAMPION DRAKE'S ROSTER:

Dragonite (Lvl 70): The Ace.

Venusaur (Lvl 63)

Electabuzz (Lvl 62)

Gyarados (Lvl 64)

Gengar (Lvl 63)

Ditto (Lvl 60)

Scizor (Lvl 58): New Addition. A metallic blur of red precision.

Mimikyu (Lvl 57): New Addition. A bizarre, hooded figure that Drake believes is a rare Ghost/Dark variant.

"I've spent a lifetime defending this throne, Zeth!" Drake yelled, his cape snapping in the wind. "Show me the strength that burned the Dead Zone! Dragonite, Inner Focus—Dragon Gale!"

The Level 70 Dragonite roared, and a literal hurricane of draconic energy spiraled outward, threatening to suppress Zeth's entire front line.

"Houndoom, Stygian Anchor! Charizard, break the sky!" Zeth countered.

The Lunar Charizard (Lvl 61) beat its silver-black wings, its celestial blue flames carving a path through the gale. Behind him, the Shiny Shelgon (Lvl 56) and Rhydon (Lvl 52) formed a physical bulwark, their heavy frames refusing to be moved by the wind.

The battle spiraled into a 16-Pokémon melee. Ceruledge and Scizor clashed in a high-speed blur of steel and phantom flames, their blades clashing with sparks that lit up the trenches. Armarouge traded long-range blasts with Drake's Electabuzz, while Cloyster laid down a field of Toxic Spikes to restrict the movement of Drake's grounded team.

But the real disruption was the Mimikyu.

"Mimikyu, Play Rough!" Drake commanded.

Zeth watched as the small, rag-doll-like Pokémon lunged at Croagunk (Lvl 51). Because the Fairy-type has not been officially categorized, the energy surrounding the attack was a strange, pinkish-purple hue.

"Croagunk, Sucker Punch!" Zeth commanded.

Croagunk's fist connected, but the "Disguise" of the Mimikyu absorbed the entire impact with a sickening crack of its wooden head. Drake grinned. "Your dark-type instincts won't save you from a Ghost that can't be touched on the first strike!"

Drake didn't realize that the move was actually a Fairy-type maneuver, dealing massive, uncalculated damage to the Poison-type Croagunk.

The air in Pummelo Stadium has transitioned from a physical atmosphere to a literal soup of compressed kinetic energy and raw intent. Fifty thousand people are leaning so far forward in their seats that the front railings are groaning. The "Total War" has reached the one-hour mark, and the "bloody thrill" the audience craved has turned into a spectacle of pure, unadulterated endurance.

The battlefield is no longer a terrain; it is a graveyard of elemental debris.

Charizard (Lvl 61) and Dragonite (Lvl 70) are locked in a vertical dogfight. Every time they collide, a shockwave of silver and orange fire ripples across the sky, clearing the clouds.

Ceruledge and Scizor are a blurred dance of red and indigo steel at the edge of a deep trench, their blades moving so fast they create a high-pitched whistling sound that makes the audience's ears bleed.

Rhydon is chest-deep in a crater, his Tectonic Anchor the only thing preventing Drake's Gyarados and Tyranitar from sweeping Zeth's backline into the stadium walls.

In the center of the chaos, the most brutal exchange is happening. Shiny Shelgon (Lvl 56) and Croagunk (Lvl 51) are cornered.

Drake's Venusaur has anchored its vines into the bedrock, using its massive body as a biological winch to trap Shelgon's legs. From the shadows, the Mimikyu—that terrifying, unknown entity—is flickering in and out of existence, striking Croagunk with Shadow Claws and that strange, pinkish Play Rough energy that leaves the Poison-type reeling.

"Your defense is legendary, Zeth!" Drake screams, his voice hoarse. "But even a fortress of green chrome has a ceiling! Venusaur, Frenzy Plant! Mimikyu, Wood Hammer!"

The earth erupts. Massive, thorned roots the size of Redwood trees burst from the stadium floor, coiling around Shelgon like constrictors. Simultaneously, the Mimikyu's "disguise" arm swells with dark energy, slamming into Croagunk's ribs with the force of a falling building.

Croagunk is sent skidding across the obsidian floor, his skin tearing against the jagged rock. He coughs up a glob of dark purple fluid, his throat sac fluttering weakly. He tries to rise, but his legs buckle.

Beside him, Shelgon is being crushed. The Frenzy Plant vines are tightening, the sound of the green-chrome armor grinding against the wooden thorns sounding like a car crusher.

"Finish the line!" Drake roars, sensing the end. "Dragonite, break off! Hyper Beam at point-blank range!"

Drake's Dragonite dives from the stratosphere, leaving Charizard behind. It lands with a cataclysmic thud directly in front of the trapped Shelgon and the fallen Croagunk. The Dragonite's mouth begins to glow with a terrifying, pulsating orb of white-hot destruction.

This is the "bloody thrill."

Zeth stands at the edge of the trainer's box. His emerald Aura isn't just glowing; it is bleeding out of him in wisps of green flame. He can feel the Shelgon's heartbeat—slow, heavy, and pressurized. He can feel Croagunk's nerves screaming in a feedback loop of pain.

"You wanted the sky," Zeth's voice echoes through the mental link, cold and demanding. "And you... you wanted to be the one who stands when everyone else falls. Are you going to die as a shell and a frog? Or are you going to take what belongs to you?"

The Hyper Beam fires.

It isn't a beam; it's a pillar of pure annihilation. The white light swallows Shelgon and Croagunk whole. The heat is so intense that the sand in the arena turns to glass instantly. The audience shields their eyes, the roar of the explosion drowning out the stadium's sound system.

But inside the white light, something is wrong.

The Hyper Beam isn't passing through. It's being absorbed.

Shiny Shelgon's green-chrome armor is no longer cracking—it is liquefying. The "Shiny Advantage" has reached its absolute limit, and instead of failing, the Pokémon's biology is performing a desperate, high-speed reboot. The green metal is being pulled inward, merging with the dragon's flesh, turning into something harder, faster, and infinitely more violent.

Beside it, Croagunk isn't dying. He is standing in the center of the beam, his Dry Skin ability and his own Poison-type malice acting as a catalyst. His limbs are stretching, his fingers elongating into serrated, toxin-dripping claws. His throat sac isn't fluttering anymore; it's vibrating at a frequency that begins to shatter the glass floor beneath him.

"WHAT IS THAT?!" Drake screams, his eyes wide with a fear he hasn't felt in twenty years.

The Hyper Beam flickers and dies, extinguished by a sudden, massive vacuum of energy.

The smoke clears to reveal a scene of sheer terror.

The green armor is gone. In its place stands a Shiny Salamence, its wings not yet fully unfurled, but its scales a brilliant, radioactive green that glows with an internal heat. Its eyes are slitted, glowing with the "Shiny" intelligence of a predator that has seen the other side of the grave.

And standing beneath its wing is a Toxicroak. He is taller, leaner, and covered in battle-scars that pulse with a glowing purple venom. He lets out a single, wet croak that echoes like a gunshot through the silent stadium.

The Crowd's Reaction: Total, stunned silence for three seconds. Then, a roar so loud it can be heard on the neighboring islands.

DRAKE'S ACE COUNTER: "You evolved... in the middle of a Hyper Beam..." Drake whispers. A grin, wild and desperate, crosses his face. "Fine! Then let's see if your new skins can handle a Dragonite's Outrage!"

The real fight has just begun.
