Chapter 7 - The Last Debugger

[ User Cael Adryn Identified ]

[ Connecting to [***] ]

Cael stared at the screen for quite some time. His glowing mystical eyes reflected the screen in them. Reading the text of debugger protocol he just summoned.

When he tried to focus on the censored words his thoughts drifted away, his mind become oblivious to it. Even trying to see and speak those censored words were impossible making him stare at his reflection in the mirror like an idiot instead.

Flap!

He slapped his cheeks and washed his face again trying to cool his mind and make his attention to not wander away again.

'It's no use.'

Coming terms with his situation, he looked passed the initial message and drifted his gaze to the other ones.

[ Stability fully realised. ]

[ Debugger Protocol Initiated: Activation 100% ]

He looked deeper.

[ Evolve to Advance Debugger Protocol? ]

[ YES ] [ NO ]

Cael stared at it for a moment and gulped.

"Yes..."

Nothing happened, then the system voice spoke in his ears making him flinch.

[ Evolution complete ]

[ Standard Issued Debugger Protocol -> Advanced Debugger Protocol ]

[ Connection to the Archive server is completely severed. The user will now directly connect with their [***] for use of the skill. ]

[ Doing so will not result in concious breakdown anymore ]

Saying and showing this, the protocol dismissed automatically.

Cael grinned.

So, I collapsed because of the backflash of new connection established?

'No, that was not related to me but the other me.'

When the silence settled as no other pop up appeared, he exhaled slowly.

After their disappearence, I want back to the elevator but it is much likely that I tried to check what really changed with me before descending.

He walked outside the washroom holding a towel in his hand as he dried his face.

'So, now I can check whatever changed with me without collapsing anymore?'

The idea felt refreshing as he thought that maybe he don't have to deal with sudden consciousness break and collapse anymore, but he didn't smooth himself too much in that thought.

He rested the towel on his shoulder as he drawed his hands in the air summoning his newly evolved debugger protocol screen.

This time it was white instead of blue with blue accents around the edges with black texts.

Cael stepped backward but immediately regained his composure.

The screen showed:

[ User Cael Adryn has initiated the debugger protocol ]

[ Sync with the [***] : 100% ]

[ Update! ] The screen beeped when Cael gazed at this particular text and then new strings of information appeared.

[ The initial use of standard debugger protocol is now in full control of the user. ]

[ Evolution Changes ] :

[ Standard Debug Lv 7 -> Advance Debug Lv 2 ]

[ The protocol now can give new insights into the streams and codes. ]

[ Debugging now allows the user to reconstruct the code based on understanding level ]

[ Collection Catche Lv 4 -> Wellstring workshop Lv 1 ]

[ The collected data of errors, glitches, memories, fables, scripts, codes and other variables now can be used to make entirely new unrelated scripts or codes depending on the level of the skill [Wellstring Workshop]. As the skill levels up more features will be updated.]

[ The previous skill Collection Catche sub skill has also been updated. New features unlocked:

Wellstring Warehouse: Allows to store the low limit and high instability variables to be stored permanently.

Current warehouse size: 64 Units.

Catche Code -> Workshop Craftsman : The ability of the feature Catche Code has evolved, now the variables can be optimally allocated to the internal system of the skill [Wellstring Workshop] using the trial and experimentation channel. ]

[ New skill Elemental Scripts unlocked. ]

[ Elemental Scripts Lv 0 ]

[ Channel the syntax of the elemental scripts to initiate the command. ]

[ The command may use residue from the Collection Catche to execute the process for efficiency ]

Reading all of that in one go, Cael frozed on the place, his facial expression fixed in awe and terror while his eyes just stared at the screen wide opened.

The towel slid off his shoulder as he stood still for quite some time.

'Wh-Where do I even start...?'

Cael thought inwardly.

He dismissed the protocol and spinned around in the small room of dormitory holding his jaw with one hand as the other hand supported it.

"New skills for the protocol. Advancement of the previous skills. The common connection severed."

He said in a low voice.

And this is just the debugger protocol which evolved, not my unique innate ability or skill.

So... can anybody get these powers? But it was not mentioned in the recorded history and collections, does that mean I am the first individual to reach this feat?

'What are these abilities even are?'

He read them out again. His focus drifted to the screen and stopped at the start of the evolution changes list.

First was the main changes to the initial protocol.

[ The protocol now can give new insights into the streams and codes. ]

[ Debugging now allows the user to reconstruct the code based on understanding level ]

"Reconstruct code... Hah?" he said with a thoughtful expression.

The debugger protocol allowed the debuggers to interact with the codes and scripts to analyse the data of them by breaking their building blocks as a whole to small micro grain level.

The initial toll of one's mind and the time taken by the protocol dependent on the person's level of the protocol.

But it didn't allow the debuggers to reconstruct those micro grains into small blocks and then into a perfect block again instead it allowed them to only to that temporarily to gather the insight without breaking down the code or a script to nothingness.

But now Cael has the ability to do so, he now can reconstruct the codes and scripts he debugs.

Just as he thought that he looked at the level of the protocol and was disappointed to find it only at Lv2, it was quite a downgrade to the Lv7 he previously had.

I don't even know what Lv10 of standard debugger protocol provided to the users. I certainly will not be able to advance this advanced version quickly.

He looked at the skills next.

[ Collection Catche Lv 4 -> Wellstring workshop Lv 1 ]

[ The collected data of errors, glitches, memories, fables, scripts, codes and other variables now can be used to make entirely new unrelated scripts or codes depending on the level of the skill [Wellstring Workshop]. As the skill levels up more features will be updated.]

He read that out again but was uncertain what it correctly meant.

The Advanced Debugger Protocol allows to reconstruct the codes and strings but this skill allows me to make entirely new scripts and codes from the collection of various variables.

His head was still throbbing with pain that's why he didn't press into the details of what this skill actually do.

Stressing his mind before the trail he may or definitely can get after stepping outside was certainly an invitation to another collapse on the floor for him.

He looked passed the details and looked at the strings of words highlighting the new skill obtained text.

[ Elemental Scripts Lv 0 ]

[ Channel the syntax of the elemental scripts to initiate the command. ]

[ The command may use residue from the Collection Catche to execute the process for efficiency ]

'This one is pretty different from the rest.'

He had no idea about it at all. All he could do was just read it out again and again to make sense of these words but nothing came to his mind.

Or maybe not.

The theme of features, abilities or skills was creation and reconstruction using already existing sources as the base for thier operations this skill is also the same in that manner.

He pondered that, still no possibility or new idea came to his mind. He even putted his hopes on the vague sense of deja vu, his intuition or the lingering feeling of fragmented memories to give him any answer or maybe even a hint but his mind was blank as well as the feeling only the throbbing pain remained.

After a few rounds of thinking, he sat down on the bed and gulped the glass of water which was nearby the bed on the table in one go.

An Advance debugger protocol, so does the next level exist? What would those abilities will be like?

There was a lot to take in.

His eyes glowed deeper as his heartbeat accelerated.

'What about the fragmented view of timelines and memories? What about the flow of that weird energy which circulated in my core? What about the [***] attribute which they mentioned?'

A sudden thought appeared in his mind.

'Does all of that are in my control now? Does they are advanced too? What's their connection with this version of debugger protocol?'

There was only one way to find out.

He stood up and started circulating the feel of energy in his core, his mind became stable and he felt every part of his being briming with power.

At the very center of his being he found the cluster of heat energy, his senses gazed into the deeper layers of existence.

And than he felt a soft pull of something, feeling increadable longing and attachment, a cool breeze passed down his spine or he simply felt like that.

And then the soft ringing of a bell or a chime echoed lightly in the back of his head.

Cael hesitated for a moment and simply released his focus, his attention returned to the surroundings around him and his body felt a little stressed than before, light sweat rolling around his eyes and forehead.

He closed his eyes and exhaled wiping off the sweat. He opened his eyes and they returned to normal, he couldn't see it but he felt that they had returned to normal as the coldness collecting in his eyes disappeared.

'I can't risk collapsing again.'

He still need to check the situation after the Record Break, to see what happened after it.

What was the current situation and the role he had to play as the important witness to the inner workings of the primordial tool.

Discussing the details about the debugger protocol with professer Samara and many more.

He couldn't waste time anymore.

Cael quickly went about and changed into his formal clothes from the dormitory clothes and headed for the entrance.

The entrance opened in a swirl motion looking like a metal-solid portal instead of a door.

***

His head was still throbbing with pain but on a miniscule level.

The outside of the dormitory room was empty with no one in sight, there was also complete silence making Cael's footsteps echo in the hallway.

The haunted silence broken by his calm and slow footsteps making the tense echo of sound was somewhat smoothing to his mind.

'They all are probably busy it seems.'

They had to be after the what happened during the Record Break, the initial fate of humans atleast depended on it.

He exited the long hallway at arrived at the the cafeteria. No one was there too but here and there on tables and small cabinets, plates of food were left on them unattended.

Some were fresh and some were half eaten.

He continued walking towards the main first floor.

'Wait...! Does that what it meant?'

An interesting thought appeared in his head.

An advance version of debugger protocol, unknown to the people of this timeline and era.

The true potential of the great tool which looked like a cheap joke infront of other great tools.

The only known user of it's advanced form and holder of it, that is me, Cael Adryn.

The one who can wield the powers of the great tool as it was intended at the dawn of .

'The last debugger'

Cael grinned, somehow the theory he came up with looked too appeasing to pass by as a random thought. Even if he doubted it a little, his intuition was also telling him this otherwise.

The vague sense of deja vu took hold of him as something about the advanced debugger protocol reminded of good old days he never experienced.
