Chapter 6 - 6 The Demon King’s Shadow

Chapter 6

King Gazel's strike was fast—sharp and precise like lightning.

His sword came down toward Scarlate…

Clang!

The sound of metal echoed in the training ground.

Scarlate had blocked it.

King Gazel's eyes widened slightly.

"Scarlate… have you learned swordsmanship as well?"

Scarlate met his gaze calmly.

"No, Father. I've only practiced magic."

King Gazel fell silent.

That attack was not ordinary. Even a well-trained knight would struggle to block it so cleanly… yet Scarlate had stopped it effortlessl

A faint frown appeared on his face.

For a brief moment, he felt something from within her—

A strange presence.

Cold. Ancient. Watching.

But the moment he tried to focus on it…

It vanished.

That night, King Gazel could not sleep.

He kept staring at the ceiling, replaying the moment in his mind.

That energy… what was it?

He was certain of one thing—

It was not normal magic.

Before dawn, Scarlate suddenly opened her eyes.

Her room was dark… but a faint crimson glow slowly appeared in the shadows.

"Your father is not a fool," a deep voice echoed softly.

"He must have sensed my presence."

Scarlate remained quiet.

"How long do you plan to hide the truth from him?" the Demon King asked with a low chuckle.

After a short pause, Scarlate spoke.

"Can you change your appearance?"

Laughter filled the room.

"Hahaha… I am the great Demon King. For me, such a thing is as easy as crushing an insect."

Scarlate interrupted him calmly.

"Then change your appearance into a monster. But make it small… and cute."

Silence.

"You do not have the right to order me," the Demon King replied, his voice turning colder.

Scarlate only smiled faintly.

The next day, Scarlate went to King Gazel again to learn swordsmanship.

Before the training could begin, King Gazel stopped and looked at her seriously.

"Scarlate… I can feel that strange energy from you again."

Scarlate took a slow breath.

"Yes, Father. I know. It is my summon beast."

King Gazel's eyes sharpened.

"Summon beast? Show it to me."

Scarlate raised her hand.

A glowing magic circle formed beneath her feet, shining softly.

From its center, a small creature appeared.

It was tiny… dark in color… with small horns and glowing red eyes.

Yet it looked strangely cute.

King Gazel froze.

He immediately understood—

That was no ordinary summon beast.

And a quiet fear began to rise in his heart.

What… exactly is this creature?
