Chapter 62 - Yukino’s Mother’s Thoughts (Part 1)

After brooding for a moment, Haruno turned to Yukino.

"Earlier you mentioned that before you, another girl had already begun learning magic from Miss Ranni, right?"

Yukino nodded.

"Yes. Her name is Miko Yotsuya from Class 1-C."

"She was born with spiritual sight that she couldn't control. Luo Yu discovered it and helped her."

"In the end, she decided to join them and started learning magic as well."

"Compared to me, once she managed to control her spiritual sight, she gained a considerable amount of magical power. In terms of magic, she's currently stronger than I am."

"Uncontrollable spiritual sight, huh…"

Haruno sighed softly.

"If this had been the old days, hearing about something like spiritual sight would probably make me a little envious."

"But in the world we live in now—and with her eyes being something she couldn't even control—that's definitely not a blessing."

Yukino nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Yukino's mother looked at her younger daughter thoughtfully.

"Haruno, what kind of relationship does that girl, Miko Yotsuya, have with Luo Yu and Miss Ranni?"

Yukino glanced at her mother before answering.

"They're quite close."

"Especially Miko and Miss Ranni. Their relationship is very good."

"She even calls her big sister."

Oh?

Haruno raised an eyebrow the moment she heard that.

Something about that sounded a little strange.

Looking at the faint confusion on Yukino's face as she spoke, Haruno's lips curved into a subtle smile.

That Miss Ranni…

She really was an interesting person.

Yukino's mother, however, didn't think as far ahead as Haruno. After learning about Miko Yotsuya's relationship with Luo Yu and Ranni, she rubbed her forehead and spoke frankly.

"Although saying this might sound rather calculating… since you and Luo Yu are classmates, Yukino, you must make sure to maintain a good relationship with him."

"It's a pity that he already has Miss Ranni as such an outstanding girlfriend."

"Otherwise, I truly think the two of you could have been a good match."

"A good match?!"

Yukino's cheeks flushed instantly.

She shook her head hurriedly in denial.

Haruno watched her younger sister with amusement.

That reaction alone made it obvious—there was no way Yukino had no feelings toward Luo Yu.

More likely, she simply hadn't realized it yet.

Her instinct was to deny it.

Seeing his daughter's embarrassed expression, Yukino's father chuckled and clapped his hands.

"Alright, that's enough discussion for now."

"So many things happened today, and we haven't even had a proper meal yet."

"The restaurant should be ready by now."

"Yukino, go invite Luo Yu and Miss Ranni."

Yukino suppressed the lingering embarrassment in her heart and stood up.

"Understood."

"I'll change my clothes first."

But Yukino's mother immediately stopped her.

"No need to change."

"School uniforms are too ordinary, and you didn't bring any other clothes anyway."

"Just wear this dress."

"I'll have someone deliver some additional outfits for you later."

Yukino pressed her lips together and glanced down at the evening gown she was wearing.

Remembering Luo Yu's earlier compliment, she didn't object.

Instead, she quietly left the suite.

After Yukino stepped out, Haruno turned to her parents.

"So, Mother… are you actually planning to match Yukino with Luo Yu?"

Yukino's mother narrowed her eyes slightly.

"Why not?"

"We're ordinary people."

"But your sister has encountered a rare opportunity and obtained extraordinary power."

"However, relying on her alone will never be enough."

"Eventually, Yukino will get married anyway."

"Now that there's a suitable candidate, why shouldn't we seize the opportunity?"

"As for whether he would be the only one… that's not important."

"What matters is whether Yukino herself can come to terms with it."

"It's obvious she has feelings for him."

"For people in the extraordinary world, there's no need to bind them to the rules of ordinary society."

"In fact, many men in those powerful families live far more… colorful lives."

As she said this, she cast a meaningful glance at her husband.

Yukino's father immediately raised both hands defensively.

"My dear, you know me—I've never done anything like that."

"I'm completely loyal!"

Outside the house he might be a respected Yukinoshita politician.

But inside the family, his wife held absolute authority.

Her word was law.

Mr. Yukinoshita was fully aware of his position in the household.

And, truth be told, he rather enjoyed it.

Seeing the faint hesitation in Haruno's eyes, Yukino's mother continued.

"What's wrong? Do you not want your sister involved in something like this?"

"As someone who has lived longer, I can confidently say she definitely has feelings for Luo Yu."

"I was already watching closely when he arrived at the banquet hall."

"If you're still worried, Haruno, you can interact with him more in the future and observe his character."

"But if someone like Yukino is willing to associate with him, that alone says a lot about the kind of person he is."

Yukino's mother understood her daughter's personality better than anyone.

That stubborn temperament—

In some ways, it had clearly been inherited from herself.

In the past, Yukino rarely interacted with boys at all.

Even if someone helped her, if there was anything about them she disliked, she would keep her distance.

At most, she would offer sincere thanks before walking away.

Then Yukino's mother turned toward Haruno.

"Now that Yukino has found her direction…"

"What about you?"

"Have you seriously thought about your own future?"

"Or do you really want me to recruit a husband who marries into our family?"

"… "

Haruno's lips twitched slightly.

She quickly stood up.

"Ahem—Mother, we can discuss that later."

"Let's go eat first."

"I'm starving."

Watching Haruno hurry out of the room, Yukino's mother sighed helplessly before following along with her husband.

Meanwhile, outside.

When Luo Yu and Ranni stepped out, they saw Yukino still wearing her evening gown.

Luo Yu looked slightly surprised.

"You're not changing?"

A faint blush appeared on Yukino's face again.

"I don't have any other clothes with me right now."

"So I can only wear this for now."

Just then, Haruno and their parents stepped out as well.

Haruno quickly slipped away from them and approached Yukino, placing both hands on her sister's shoulders as she smiled brightly.

"Well, Luo Yu—what do you think?"

"Isn't our Yukino adorable in that evening gown?"

Looking at Yukino—who now looked completely different from her usual cold, untouchable demeanor—Luo Yu smiled and nodded.

"Yes, she's very cute."

"It's a completely different style from usual."

"Though honestly, she looks good in normal clothes too."

"There's no need for it to be an evening dress."

"Outfits like this are just a bit too dependent on the occasion."

Although the compliment was directed at Yukino, it applied just as easily to Haruno.

Then Luo Yu glanced at the silent Ranni beside him and smiled slightly.

Together, the group walked toward the elevator and headed up to the restaurant on the top floor.

The restaurant had already prepared a long series of dishes.

Once Luo Yu and the others were seated, plates began arriving one after another.

To be fair, it was a five-star hotel restaurant.

Each dish was small in portion but exquisite in flavor, and there were many courses.

By the time they finished eating after nearly an hour, everyone was full.

During the meal, Yukino's mother also noticed something surprising—

Yukino's appetite had grown considerably.

She was no longer the delicate eater she used to be.
