Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

The realm of the Night.

It is a place that exists within the Underworld, yet remains independent of the larger Underworld, allowing it to stay as its own entity instead of falling under Hades's rule.

It is a place that various Chthonic gods and goddesses, along with many spirits and mystical beings born of the underworld, call home.

I knew this place well since I came down here a lot to meet my friends, like the Melinoe, Charon, the furies, Hypnos, Nemesis, Apate, Philotes, Geras, Eris, and so many more, who fought alongside us during the war.

However, the exact place where the Primordial Night teleported us is one that I have never seen before.

Her personal residence. A place where nobody but her children and her husband is allowed to set foot into.

This is why I decided to rein in my annoyance and listen to what she had to say.

If she is going so far as to invite me to her personal domain, then it must be something truly important, something that nobody else is supposed to listen to.

With a wave of her hand, a throne manifested from the darkness directly in front of her own throne, indicating what she wanted. So, I did exactly that.

As we sat down, Ambrosia and Nectar manifested by our sides.

"You have quite the temper, Son of Rhea."

Her tone was rather serene, not at all as assertive as it was back in the realm of the Moirai.

I remained vigilant, but I still decided to engage in dialogue before deciding if this primordial is a problem or not.

"That tends to happen when your family is repeatedly targeted by beings who seem bent on causing absolute tragedy."

"I see. You believe the actions of my daughters warrant their erasure?"

"Yes."

"Hm. Tell me why."

I gave the primordial a dry look.

"I am sure you already know and are only asking me again for some stupid reason, so I will humor you."

"Starting from the very beginning, after we ascended to our current positions, those three have been constantly trying to mess up the lives of my family."

"I constantly feel their thread trying to weave themselves around my family. A constant threat to the safety of those I care about."

I felt that familiar rage start to cloud my mind again as my inner Oozaru woke up again.

"Of course, I did not care much as long as their manipulations were subtle and only tried to give a little push to what was already there. Because I know the importance of their existence in these realms."

"However, they did not stop there, did they?"

I felt my Ki rise again as I unconsciously transformed into my Legendary Super Saiyan form as my anger continued to boil over.

The realm we were in started to shake until the Primordial reasserted her power, stabilizing the place.

She tried to make it seem as casual as possible, but I saw the slight trepidation in her true form, one that she cannot hide from my eyes, thanks to my mastery over the spirit control and the magical arts of my old world that I've gained in the past few years.

"They started to meddle more and more. Like how they tried to push Demeter over the edge when Hades and Persephone's relationship started, causing that brief bout of winter in the lands before I forced all of them to sit down and talk things out."

"Then there was that time where they tried to intervene in young Chiron's fate as well before I burned away their threads to keep him safe."

"Then, they did what they did to Zeus and the rest of my siblings and had him reenact the King Canibal's actions."

This time, my power flared fully, directly breaking the dimension and plunging us into a kaleidoscopic realm, much to the primordial's panic as she tried to regain control, but failed to.

Because this is my realm.

The place where I practice with my power fully unleashed. A place that I discovered accidentally during my training and have long since imbued with my own domains.

"I should have destroyed them that day. I truly wanted to. But I know that doing something like that would fundamentally break our realms. So, I held my hand, barely."

"After that, they tried to make the Olympians punish Prometheus for his admittedly clever trick during that last banquet of the Gods and Mortals. If I had not been present to make my family relent and not punish the Titan too severely, who knows what kind of catastrophe would have befallen the world instead of that peaceful erasure of that defective Silver Race at my hands?"

"Then, they messed with Zeus and Leto again, rekindling that old affection of theirs. Granted, this time, most of the fault lay with Leto for willingly seducing Zeus back then, and I have punished both of them equally, with Zeus taking the harsher side of punishment by spending two centuries as an impotent man, unable to mate and produce children. But the Moirai's actions were still felt."

"And now? They are even going after newborns like Hephaestus? That is unacceptable. They have played around with my family long enough."

"I no longer care if I end up breaking our realms fundamentally or if some other god or goddess is born to replace those three. I only care about removing them as a threat for good."

"And, if those who are born to replace them are just as bad as they are? Then they will die too."

"I will do it as many times as required, until my family is safe from their mechanitions."

The primordial fell silent at my words as I finally let go of my anger, restoring us to Nyx's domain.

".....Brolios. I understand your anger. But know that what my children do, they do for a purpose."

"Because their actions are the only way they know to make sure our realms have a future."

"That is the weakest excuse I have ever heard, Primordial of the Night."

The primal concept in feminine form smiled wryly at my words.

"It is simply the truth. God of Destruction."

"Do you know the concept of timelines?"

I nodded at her words. Of course I did. I was a victim of timeline and multiversal shenanigans, after all.

"Then, it makes the discussion easier. As you know, before the Olympians rose to power, our realms were in the same state of flux as the outside world."

"This flux meant that nothing was fixed and nothing was certain. The past, the present, the future, space, time, reality itself was mallable clay that those in the know could mould as they saw fit."

"That is why the ascent of the Olympians was such a necessity. The reason why we, the Primordials, silently supported you and your siblings by not heeding the call of our nephew and his kin."

"Because we knew, because I knew, that this world needs to stabilize if it is to have a future."

"And sure enough, with the ascent of the Olympians as the rulers of our realms, the flux gradually subsided, and our world took on a fixed shape."

"However, with this stabilization came a revelation that neither I, nor the other Primordials, nor my daughters, were ready for."

I remained silent. Letting her speak.

"The way that my daughters, and to a lesser extent me, see the future is in the form of branches diverging into their own outcomes from various points in time, depending completely upon the choices of all kinds of beings."

"So, it stands to reason that there exist infinite possibilities and infinite timelines that we can see."

"Even during the age of flux, during the so-called Golden Age of Titans, we could still see the general direction in these timelines. We knew the general outline of what was to come and what my daughters needed to do to ensure the most optimal result for everyone."

"However, after the flux was over and we got a proper look at the timelines without the haze of uncertainty, we were appalled to see that everything we knew was to come had been erased completely."

"The future, now, is completely unknown to us. We can no longer see the timelines. We no longer see the branches originating from the choices of various beings."

"And the reason for this sudden change is you, Brolios."

".....What?"

She smiled wryly at my words and took a swing of the Ambrosia, as if trying to get drunk off it.

"Your 'birth' was already an anomaly that we never foresaw back then. But we let it be since your existence only had a minor impact on the timelines as a whole."

"However, everything changed the moment you ascended to the rank of an Olympian God."

"That is the moment that the timelines unravelled completely, leaving behind a void where the future was supposed to be."

"I....coped with it as well as I could. Just as the rest of my kin. After all, we, as Primordials, have seen a lot in our lives. So, we decided to simply watch this new event as well."

"But my children? The Moirai? They could not do so. To them, who were born with the very concepts of destiny and time, this was a terrifying anomaly that they needed to correct no matter what."

She leaned back into her throne helplessly.

"This is the main reason why they do what they do, Brolios. Because they wish to secure the future of these realms in the terrifying unknown of the future. And the only way they know how is to try and put things back on the same path that they had seen before. By forcing everyone to make the same choices they made in that ideal timeline they remember from before, a future that was literally erased with your ascension."

Anyone in my place might have felt a little bit of pity for those three. And, I do feel pity after hearing the true reason behind their actions. Their desperation to ensure the continued existence of our realms is because they are terrified of a future that they cannot see and believe that the realms are going to be destroyed without their intervention.

However, the biggest emotion I am feeling is disappointment. Pure, unadulterated disappointment.

"...How stupid. So, you are saying that all those tragedies and cruelties they tried to inflict on our realms were all because they are afraid of an uncertain future? That they fear the unknown? They? The three strongest beings aside from the Olympians and the Primordials? RIDICULOUS!!"

I could not help the roar that tore through my throat.

What kind of idiocy is this? Just because they are afraid of an unknown future, which might actually turn out to be a utopian one if we try, they chose to inflict so many tragedies on my family!?

ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!

I got up from my throne and got ready to go back to the fates and settle the score once and for all.

However, Nyx got up as well and spoke in a pleading tone.

"Brolios. Do not kill my daughters. I beg of you. They do not know any other way to preserve our realms and their inhabitants from what they believe to be an absolute end."

"Am I supposed to let them be? Then? Am I supposed to let them play around with the lives and sanity of my family!?"

She took a deep breath and spoke an oath that I did not expect from her.

"I, Nyx, the Primordial of the Night, hereby swear on the name of Chaos. I will try my best to control my daughters and try to stop them from interfering with the Olympian, as well as anyone you consider your own."

"I cannot promise to stop them completely, because that is impossible. But I promise that they will not interfere with your family at the very least from now on, so long as you refrain from killing them."

The result was instantaneous as we felt Chaos's presence.

I think the ancient progenitor of this entire pantheon felt some semblance of love for its daughter, for we felt like it gently caressed her, while I felt its amused gaze on my very soul, before its presence retreated, leaving Nyx breathless.

She gave me a wry smile as she collapsed in her throne.

"Is this enough? God of Destruction? Or do you wish to ask more of me in exchange for letting my children live?"

"....You are a real piece of work, Nyx. I can see why Nemesis and her siblings refuse to acknowledge you. This kind of selfish and willful actions that do not care one bit about others, only about yourself and your own feelings, would push anyone away."

She remained silent at my words as I teleported out, back to my sanctuary in Mother's grove.

Since she went so far as to swear on Chaos, the least I can do is give her the benefit of the doubt.

However, I will be keeping a close eye on those three from now on.

The moment I see them trying to play with my family again.

All bets are off.
