I look at her.
"What makes you say that?"
She doesn't answer me.
Instead, she lifts her feet and taps the bird three times on the head.
The bird suddenly starts moving.
Its wings spread out before it begins flying in a certain direction at a very fast speed.
The wind becomes much stronger, hitting my face as the bird flies through the air.
I look down at the forest.
The trees that were easy to see before are now passing by much faster.
Branches move past us, and the distance between us and the monsters' fight keeps increasing.
I turn my head and look back.
The area where the two beasts were fighting is slowly getting farther away.
The flames that had been covering the battlefield become smaller and smaller until I can barely see them.
I turn my head back toward the little lass.
She is still sitting calmly on the bird.
She doesn't seem bothered by the speed at all.
I look at her for a few seconds.
Then the lass talks.
"You said you saw a weird light flowing inward through the flames?"
I nod.
"Tell me the colour of the light?"
"Sigh."
I sigh.
'To tell you the truth, I don't even know if that was a light.'
"Little lass, I don't even know if it was a light."
She suddenly lifts her hand and puts it into her shoulder with her palm open.
"Give me a feather of the bird."
I reach out my hand and hold a golden feather in front of me.
I then pull.
It comes out.
I put it in her palm.
She closes it quickly and moves her hand out of her shoulder.
"Just tell me the colour of the light."
"I don't care how you describe it, just tell me the colour and how you see it."
I nod as I speak.
"Okay."
I shift the way I sit on the bird as my legs start getting uncomfortable.
After I am done shifting, I start describing.
"The light was black and white."
"It was like looking in a black hole, devouring light."
"But it was somehow also luminous."
"It was emitting a very bright light, but it was also somehow dim."
She nods.
"So you are saying that it was really black and dark but somehow emitting light, which is supposed to be contradictory."
I nod.
She shakes her head.
"You are truly dumb if you think that is your eyes at work."
"Then what is it supposed to be?!"
I shout as the wind rushes past my face.
I scream so that I make sure she hears me.
Though it really is hard to do so.
But she replies calmly.
"It is just you sensing a specific element."
"More specifically, the energy of that element."
"Any being can sense it."
"It may look like you are seeing it, but you are really not."
I nod.
"But then what am I supposed to see?"
She lays back on the bird's feathers.
She puts her head on top of her arms and looks at the sky.
"You will know when you see."
"Okay."
I look at her, who is looking at the sky with her blue eyes.
I look to the sky too.
But I don't see anything.
So I look back at her.
"Is there anything you are looking at?"
"Many things, actually."
"But they are things the you who can't use their OWN EYES can't see."
"Oh please, you said my eyes are special."
"So, Master, why do you think it is hard for me to learn how to use my eyes?"
I smile.
"This is instinctual to me!"
"I may have been using them a lot already, but not specifically for the things you want me to!"
She lifts her small golden hand and waves it lazily.
"I want to sleeeeep."
"So shut your mouth and sleep too."
She closes her eyes.
"It's beneficial for you."
She then makes her hand lie down behind her head and stops making unnecessary movements.
The bird slows down a bit each time her chest rises and falls.
And as it gets slower and more peaceful, it flies at a very slow pace compared to when she was awake.
I shake my head.
"I don't really feel like sleeping."
"And all I am going to do is watch the fights of beasts or maybe we are going back to Lysera's house."
"So I really doubt I need sleep for anything much."
I look down at the passing trees that are much clearer after the bird slowed down.
"I will just look at the scenery."
So I just look at the trees as we pass.
We just fly in peaceful silence just like this for most of the way, with some fights between beasts here and there.
But the bird doesn't stop at any one of them.
The little lass doesn't wake up at all.
I look at the position of the sun and frown.
"The hell is this?"
"We've been flying for quite some time, but how come we haven't reached our destination?"
I then look at the boundless greenery I see as far as I can see.
That makes my frown deepen.
"And how are we still in the forest all this time?"
"Shouldn't we have found settlements or other things like that by now?"
"Or at least left the forest?"
I look at the little lass, hoping she would wake up and answer me.
But she remains still, her eyes closed.
She lets out a slow, irritated sigh before speaking.
"Why are you talking right now?!"
I wait for her to open her eyes, but she doesn't.
She keeps them closed as she continues speaking.
"I am asking why we haven't left the forest, why its size is so huge, and why we haven't reached our destination."
She nods slightly, still lying there with her eyes closed.
"There is no reason to be surprised."
She lazily waves her hand to indicate the surroundings.
"The bird is moving slowly, the forest is huge, and we are going to the deepest depths of the forest to watch a battle that is starting soon."
'So that is the destination we have been going to all this time.'
She lowers her hand.
"Of course that is where we have been going."
"Where did you think we were heading?".
"I didn't know where we were heading, obviously."
She nods and closes her eyes.
