He stopped scrolling through his phone, slipped it onto the bedside table, and looked over at Adrian.
"Babe, can you grab my laptop from the desk?"
Normally, Adrian would have groaned dramatically, demanded a kiss as payment, or cheekily told Matteo to get it himself.
Instead, Adrian climbed out of bed without a word. He walked to the desk, picked up the laptop, and returned with a soft, obedient smile.
"Here you go."
Matteo accepted it, his brows knitting together.
"Could you get me a glass of water too?"
"Of course," Adrian replied without the slightest hesitation.
He quietly left the bedroom to fetch it.
Over the next hour, Matteo deliberately sent Adrian on three more small, unnecessary errands. Every single time, Adrian went without a sigh, a murmur of protest, or a single complaint.
The quiet, effortless compliance unsettled Matteo more than he cared to admit.
