Meredith Rowan knew Zane Lowell's art was garbage.
To begin with, he'd approached both drawings with the mindset that he was bound to lose. Shirley Thorne had been in a rush and kept nagging him, so Zane Lowell couldn't be bothered to take it seriously, figuring it wasn't important and he could just phone it in.
Previously, Meredith Rowan had seen no problem with Zane Lowell's attitude. Now, of course, things felt very different.
"Shirley, don't cry. Just tell me what happened."
Meredith Rowan spent a good while trying to console her, but the sobbing from the other end of the line was making her furious.
'Crying, crying, crying, that's all she knows how to do. Can crying solve anything?'
Just as Meredith Rowan was growing extremely impatient, Shirley Thorne finally stopped sobbing and choked out, "Ethan said I was just phoning it in, and he called the art garbage!"
'He's not wrong about that.'
