"!!!"
Sonia Quincy's eyes widened. She stared in disbelief at Felix Preston, who was approaching her on crutches.
"Y-You can get out of bed?" she stammered, blinking. It still hadn't sunk in.
Leaning on a crutch with one hand while Jasper Linden firmly supported his other arm, Felix Preston stumbled his way over to Sonia Quincy and stood before her.
"The doctor said I could try getting out of bed and practice walking with crutches. So? How am I doing?" He grinned foolishly at Sonia Quincy, like a little kid who'd just won a race and was waiting for praise.
"You're doing great." Sonia Quincy looked him up and down, not holding back her praise in the slightest. "You're doing exceptionally well."
Felix Preston blinked, his eyes behind his glasses sparkling with delight.
Sonia Quincy reached out and adjusted his new glasses, which had slipped down his nose slightly. She asked gently, "How long have you been practicing? Why didn't you wait for us to get back before you started?"
