The plaza was bustling with chatter and laughter. While no one was looking, Bai Wanwan dragged Xin Feng over to a more secluded, less conspicuous place to sit.
Xin Feng glanced at her and asked, "Not going to the front?"
"No!" 'She was just here to make an appearance.'
'There's nothing fun to do here anyway. What's the point of being up front? It's much more comfortable sitting in a corner.'
As the two sat down, a gaze drifted over in their direction.
Roger was surrounded by many young females of the Cat Clan Tribe.
He was all too familiar with the look in the females' eyes.
After ten years as a Traveling Merchant, visiting dozens of tribes large and small, he had grown accustomed to the females' enthusiastic attention.
But the little female beside Xin Feng hadn't spared them—these foreign Beastmen—a single glance since she arrived. She just kept her head tilted, talking to Xin Feng.
His gaze fell upon Xin Feng's face.
The ruined half of his face was uglier than the Beasts of Zhuwu Mountain.
'Doesn't that female find him repulsive at all? She's actually still smiling at him.'
"Captain Roger, what are you looking at? Did you hear what I just said to you?"
A female with plain features but a voluptuous figure was gazing at him with direct, fervent eyes.
Roger pulled his gaze away. He scanned her up and down, a roguish smile on his face. "My apologies. I won't stay for any one female. I have my caravan."
The female pouted. "Then you don't have to be my Beast Husband. Can you just come see me sometimes?"
Roger chuckled and hooked her chin. "That will depend on whether I have time..."
His flirtatious gesture made her heart flutter. "Then I'll wait for you! You have to come when you have time!"
As soon as she finished, she was shoved aside by another female.
"Captain Roger, last time you came, you gave me so many wonderful gifts and said you'd seriously consider becoming my Beast Husband. Have you made up your mind?"
Roger stood up from the stone bench. "Not yet. I need to think about it some more."
With that, he sidestepped the females in front of him and made his way, step by step, toward the secluded corner.
Bai Wanwan was complaining to Xin Feng, "When are they going to bring the Unicorn meat over?"
"Hungry?" Xin Feng asked, smiling at her.
"A little."
'I want to go back and grill some meat with the Fire Stone.'
Just as Xin Feng was about to speak, a tall figure suddenly stepped in front of them.
Bai Wanwan slowly lifted her head, her eyes meeting Roger's condescending gaze.
"Why not sit up front?"
Roger ignored Xin Feng completely, a smirk playing on his lips as he spoke to Bai Wanwan.
Bai Wanwan didn't have a good impression of Roger. She turned, picked up the Golden Lion Beast Skin beside her, and offered it to him.
"Perfect timing. Here's your Golden Lion Beast Skin."
He glanced at the skin but didn't take it. "I found that Fire Stone by chance. If you like it, keep it. No need for the skin. Consider it my gift to you."
Xin Feng frowned, took the skin from Bai Wanwan's hands, and shoved it at Roger. "I was the one who traded you for the Fire Stone. We don't need your gifts."
Roger watched his possessive display and suddenly burst out laughing.
"Little females can have other Beast Husbands. Are you going to stand in their way, too?"
Xin Feng's hand visibly tensed. In a moment of impulse, he had made a decision on the little female's behalf.
But he knew it was wrong.
But before he could speak, Bai Wanwan leaned over and looped her arm through his. "Of course you can stop them. You're my first Beast Husband. If you don't like someone, I won't take them as my Beast Husband either."
This time, it was the smile on Roger's face that froze.
The gloom that had clouded Xin Feng's features instantly dissipated.
He subconsciously turned his head, his gaze meeting Bai Wanwan's smiling eyes.
The two of them said nothing, simply gazing at each other as if no one else existed.
"Little female, you're not very fertile, are you? Otherwise, what other female would want a male like Xin Feng, with his ruined face and lost Talent?"
"Don't judge me by your own standards. I love my Xin Feng, and I love him just the way he is."
Bai Wanwan shot him a disgusted look. 'Trying to turn me against my Beast Husband right in front of my face.'
'Does he think he's so great? So handsome?'
'Does sticking a few feathers in his hair make him a peacock?'
'His looks are so average. He can't even compare to Xin Feng.'
Her disgusted glare made Roger laugh out of sheer anger.
He had only wanted to provoke Xin Feng, but he never expected to be the one getting provoked in the end.
He feigned nonchalance as he reached out and took the Golden Lion Beast Skin. Leaning forward slightly, he closed the distance between himself and Bai Wanwan.
"No need to rush, little female. I'll be staying in your Cat Clan Tribe for a few more days. We can get to know each other slowly. Who knows, you might grow to like me."
Bai Wanwan immediately threw cold water on his suggestion. "That won't happen. You're not my type."
'Trying to make a fool out of me?'
'Using me to provoke Xin Feng?'
'Roger wants to play games with me? I'm not playing along.'
A dark look flashed in Roger's eyes before being replaced by a smile. He gave the pair a long, hard look, then turned and walked away.
Once Roger was a good distance away, Xin Feng turned to her. "He's probably doing this just to get at me. You need to be careful these next few days."
"Okay. Once we get back today, I'll just stay home and not come out."
'I finally got my hands on the Fire Stone. I can use the time to figure out how to use it and treat my stomach to a good meal.'
Besides, the weather was getting colder. She just wanted to curl up in her cave and hibernate.
The crowd in the plaza grew larger. The Clan Leader waved his hand, signaling for silence.
"Captain Roger, welcome once again to our Cat Clan Tribe! The supplies you've brought are desperately needed. Tonight, we will treat our distinguished friends with the Unicorns we've hunted. Please, eat and drink to your heart's content!"
"ROAR..."
"ROAR..."
The males would let out roars when they were happy.
The plaza instantly became painfully loud.
Xin Feng noticed she was growing restless and reassured her, "We'll go back after we've had some of the Unicorn meat."
After the Clan Leader and the Traveling Merchants exchanged pleasantries, he finally gave the order to butcher the Unicorns.
The two massive Unicorns were cut into strips of meat, divided among countless stone basins, and the Beastmen began distributing them.
Before long, the distribution reached their section.
When Bai Wanwan saw the chunks of freshly cut, bloody red meat, her stomach churned.
The male distributing the meat soon came to her. He rummaged through the stone basin, selected a piece of Unicorn meat that looked particularly tender, and eagerly offered it to her.
"Wanwan, this is the best piece. Eat it while it's fresh."
Bai Wanwan accepted it, flashing him a "happy" smile. "Okay, thanks. I'll eat it right now."
The male Beastman was so mesmerized by her smile that he staggered before continuing on to distribute meat to the other Beastmen.
After taking the strip of meat, Bai Wanwan tossed it directly onto her Stone Plate, showing no intention of touching it.
"Don't want to eat it?" He could read her thoughts in her smile.
Bai Wanwan nodded in disgust. "Yeah. It's too bloody. I can't eat this."
"Then I'll cook it for you with the Fire Stone when we get back."
'Such a delicate little female.'
'But she's my female, after all. All I can do is spoil her.'
'Either way, raw or cooked, the little female has to get this Unicorn meat in her stomach, or she'll get sick from the cold this winter.'
"Okay," she said, glancing around before leaning in close to him. "We've got the meat. Why don't we just head back now?"
At the thought of fragrant, roasted meat, Bai Wanwan's mouth watered.
Her greedy expression made Xin Feng chuckle. He nodded. "Alright, let's go."
Bai Wanwan quickly reached out to help him. Just as they were about to get up and leave, hoping no one would notice...
A female Beastman suddenly walked over and said to her, "Wanwan, the Witch Doctor wants to see you in the Witch Cave."
