Jasper silently apologized to his mother. 'I might not be able to keep the promise I made.'
He couldn't face Vivian Sterling.
Seeing her only made him relive that nightmare of a day, over and over again.
Once the commotion outside died down, Jasper turned off the living room lights and went back to his room.
At midnight, he opened the chat window.
Half an hour earlier, Nina Donovan had sent him a good night message.
The last message in the log read:
Vernal: [Good night, Zola. Sweet dreams.]
...
「The next day.」
Nina was jolted awake by her alarm. It was seven o'clock.
The first person she thought of was Jasper Sherwood.
'I forgot to tell him he absolutely shouldn't come today. His leg is injured; he can't be that foolish, right?'
Nina scratched her head and went to get ready.
Yawning, she went downstairs and casually glanced at the living room.
'Oh, Jasper's here.'
Then she was suddenly wide awake.
'Jasper Sherwood???'
'In her living room?'
