Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The Powerful Wuyu

A "degree" refers to a standard unit of Magic power.

Wizards define one degree of standard Magic power as the energy released by one gram of Magic Stone.

This unit is typically used to measure Magic Power.

For example, a Second-level Wizard Apprentice with a Spiritual Power of 18 units would typically cast a Zero-Circle Magic spell like "Acid Splash" with a Magic Power between 3 and 5 degrees.

In addition, standard units of Magic power are also sometimes used to measure the combat strength of Knights.

For example, without using any combat techniques, a full-power strike from a Junior Knight has a power of about 1 degree.

A full-power strike from a Peak Knight can reach about 3 degrees, which is the lower limit of "Acid Splash's" power.

Pei Ze had Wuyu attack the target a few more times. The lowest test result was 1.7 degrees, and the highest even reached 2 degrees.

"Not bad!"

Pei Ze nodded in satisfaction.

This attack power had already reached the level of a Middle Knight and was approaching that of a Senior Knight.

Additionally, Wuyu's speed was also incredibly fast.

Thanks to its small size and ability to fly, its movements were far more agile than a Middle Knight's.

More importantly, Wuyu had two other abilities: Mist Form and Summoning Fog Crow.

Mist Form made Wuyu completely immune to normal physical attacks. Even attacks imbued with Battle Aura would have their damage significantly weakened.

With this ability, Wuyu could definitely hold its own against a Peak Knight!

After that, Pei Ze had Wuyu summon Fog Crows for testing.

Compared to Wuyu's main body, the Fog Crows' attack power was much weaker, fluctuating between 0.7 and 0.9 degrees on average.

Factoring in their Mist Form ability, they could barely contend with a Junior Knight.

This combat strength might not seem high, but when you considered the number of Fog Crows, it was terrifying!

'Wow, with over five hundred Fog Crows, they could overwhelm and kill even a Grand Knight with sheer numbers!'

Pei Ze's eyes were filled with delight.

And this was just the beginning. Once Wuyu converted more Fog Crows, its combat strength could be enhanced even further!

'So much potential!'

'I've really hit the jackpot this time, pulling an 'SSR' like Wuyu!'

With Wuyu around, his power had instantly skyrocketed!

'So this is the positive boost a powerful magic pet can bring!'

Pei Ze suddenly felt a wave of emotion.

A crow that even a child could easily kill was instantly transformed into a powerful creature comparable to a Grand Knight after becoming a magic pet.

This gave a glimpse into the wonder and power of Wizards. No wonder they could traverse the Multi-Dimensional Plane with ease.

A slight, tickling sensation on his cheek interrupted Pei Ze's thoughts.

Wuyu was gently rubbing against his face, and a mental impression asking for praise entered his mind.

Pei Ze couldn't help but laugh as he stroked the little guy's head.

"You did a great job."

KRAA!

Wuyu proudly lifted its head.

Pei Ze chuckled, praised it a few more times, and then walked over to a Crystal Target.

After planting his feet, he took a deep breath and threw a punch with all his might.

BAM!

Test data instantly appeared on the target.

Type: Physical

Power: 0.7 Degrees

"That low?"

Pei Ze frowned, but his expression quickly relaxed.

Although his current physique had reached the level of a Middle Knight, he only had the raw constitution without the corresponding techniques to exert force. It was normal for his explosive power to be low.

Pei Ze then threw another punch, but this time, his fist was enveloped in a fiery-red halo.

BAM!

A shallow dent immediately appeared on the Crystal Target, its surface slightly scorched black.

Type: Physical, Flame

Power: 1.7 Degrees

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Pei Ze switched to other Energy Particles and conducted several more tests.

A little over two minutes later, he finally stopped and let out a long breath.

'After imbuing my attacks with Energy Particles, my attack strength fluctuates between 1.6 and 1.8 degrees, barely reaching the standard of a Middle Knight.'

'The amount of Energy Particles a Wizard Apprentice can control at once primarily depends on their Spirit's strength. With my current Spiritual Power, this is the maximum intensity I can achieve.'

'However, this is just my bare-fisted power. With a weapon, reaching over 2 degrees shouldn't be a problem.'

'It's a shame I don't know any combat techniques, or my attack strength could be raised by another huge margin!'

'Maybe... I should train in one or two combat techniques?'

Pei Ze was tempted.

Combat techniques were much easier to obtain than Spell Books.

The academy's Logistics Department sold them.

And compared to spell models, the price was an absolute bargain.

You could buy a high-rank combat technique for just one contribution point.

Besides, with the Eye of Omniscience, he would only need to spend a little time to master the techniques easily.

However, after careful consideration, Pei Ze gave up on the idea.

He was a Wizard, after all, not a Knight.

Constructing Will Runes and researching Magic were his main tasks; he couldn't neglect his priorities for trivial pursuits.

Unless the Eye of Omniscience freed up a spare task slot someday, his pressing priority was still to analyze as many Will Runes and spell models as possible.

Pei Ze cleared his mind of distracting thoughts and continued testing.

He needed to familiarize himself with Wuyu's fighting style as quickly as possible so he wouldn't be flustered in future battles.

He continued until his two-hour usage time was up. Only when a mechanical female voice asked if he wanted to extend his session did Pei Ze reluctantly stop and leave the lab.

After leaving the Experimental District, Pei Ze turned and hurried toward the Garden District.

Upon arriving at Medicine Garden No. 8, he had planned to finish his work before looking for Yin Xue, but unexpectedly, he saw her at the entrance to the flower garden.

The young woman stood before the garden, bathed in the warm sunlight. Her long, snow-white hair shimmered, exuding a breathtaking charm.

Hearing a sound, Yin Xue turned around. Seeing it was Pei Ze, her face broke into a radiant smile.

"You're here, Junior."

"Senior," Pei Ze greeted her and asked, "What are you doing?"

Yin Xue smiled sweetly. "Teacher sent me to pick a few plants."

"Speaking of which, it's thanks to your excellent care that the rare plants in the garden are growing much better than before. Teacher even praised you in private."

"It's just part of my job."

Pei Ze said humbly, then got straight to the point.

"Senior, I'd like to meet with Master Mo Weng. Could I trouble you to make an introduction?"

Yin Xue asked in surprise, "Why are you looking for Teacher?"

"Well, I happened to acquire a book that recorded several modified Zero-Circle Magic spells. Back when we were dealing with the Demonized, Master Mo Weng happened to..."

Pei Ze recounted the story of his trade with Mo Weng.

"I'm preparing to brew some potions next and will need a lot of contribution points, so I wanted to ask if Master Mo Weng would be interested in buying another modified spell."

"Oh, so that's what happened," Yin Xue said in realization, then broke into a smile. "If that's the case, there's no need to find Teacher. How about you trade with me? I'm also very interested in modified Zero-Circle Magic."

Pei Ze was slightly taken aback, but then he agreed without a second thought.

His goal was to sell the modified spell; it didn't matter who he sold it to.

"Which spell are you planning to trade, Junior?"

"Mage's Hand," Pei Ze said.

Acid Splash and Touch of Fatigue wouldn't be fully modified for another twenty-some days.

He hadn't even started modifying the Dizziness Technique yet.

Right now, the only modified spells he had on hand were Mage's Hand and Plant Spirit Light.

But to Pei Ze's surprise, Yin Xue heard this and said, "Junior, trade me Plant Spirit Light as well."

Pei Ze paused. 'I already traded Plant Spirit Light to Mo Weng. If Yin Xue wants to learn it, she could just ask him. Why is she trying to trade with me for it?'

Seeming to sense Pei Ze's confusion, Yin Xue explained with a smile, "Junior, when it comes to trades of knowledge between Wizards, unless it's explicitly agreed that it can be taught to others, it is strictly forbidden to share it."

"Anyone who violates this unwritten rule will be scorned and ostracized by all Wizards. In more serious cases, they might even be hunted down by the person they traded with!"
