Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Got Spanked

Wandering Beastmen were beastmen in the Beast World who had either rebelled against their tribes or been exiled for committing terrible deeds.

They had an excess of cultivation impurities left in their bodies, making most of them violent, cruel, and existences that other beastmen regarded with vigilance and disgust.

Su Yu remembered the original owner's tribe suffering an attack from Wandering Beastmen one winter. Many beastmen had died, and several females had been abducted.

More than half of their winter food supply was also stolen.

The original owner had endured that winter on an empty stomach.

Su Yu clenched her fists. Instead of running out and adding to the chaos, she turned and entered the cave. Inside the System Mall, she bought all the herbs with hemostatic and anti-inflammatory properties.

She knew she would only be in the way if she ran out now. All she could do was get the medicine ready.

It was only now that Su Yu truly realized just how inconvenient it was to be blind. She deeply regretted having been so lax about her mission before.

'If I had just pounced on Shi Wei on the first day and gotten pregnant with his cub, or taken the Fertility Pill when we mated, wouldn't my eyes have been healed by now?'

The herbs materialized in the cave.

Just then, an anxious shout from a beastman came from outside the cave. "Granny Wu Zhi! Luo Jian and the others were injured by Stray Beasts! Please, come with me and save him!"

The beastmen calling for Granny Wu Zhi were Luo Jian's two brothers, Luo Dong and Luo Ge.

After shouting, they realized something was wrong. Granny Wu Zhi didn't seem to be in the cave!

Su Yu's heart sank. She fumbled her way out and explained concisely, "Granny Wu Zhi went out with the gathering team today to collect herbs. Wu Xiong went to get her, but he's not back yet."

When Luo Dong heard this, he felt his world collapse. "What do we do? Luo Jian and the others can't hold on much longer!"

Luo Ge, the calmer of the two, transformed into his beast form and sprinted off to find Granny Wu Zhi. Luo Dong didn't linger either and was about to leave.

"Wait!"

Su Yu turned back into the cave, gathered the herbs she had purchased into her arms, and came stumbling out. "Take me with you. I know a few herbs and how to dress a wound. I can apply medicine to stop their bleeding and help them hold on until Granny Wu Zhi returns."

Luo Dong was skeptical. "You? You can't even see. How are you supposed to apply medicine and bandage them?"

Su Yu explained, "I can bandage wounds without seeing. When I used to get hurt in my old tribe, I always dressed my own wounds."

"Besides, you have no other choice. If their injuries are that severe, they might go see the Beast God before Granny Wu Zhi even gets back. I can at least buy them some time."

"If you don't trust me, I can give instructions and you can do it."

A long illness makes a good doctor, as the saying goes. Su Yu had been sick so many times in her past life that in the process of nursing herself back to health, she had practically become half a practitioner of traditional medicine.

She could certainly handle simple external wounds.

Hearing this, Luo Dong thought of his brothers who were still bleeding. He gritted his teeth, transformed into his beast form, and nudged Su Yu onto his back. "Hold on tight," he urged. "Don't fall off."

Su Yu managed to free a hand to clutch his fur as he carried her, racing toward the tribe's central clearing.

The central clearing was packed with beastmen in their animal forms.

They were all injured. Some had slashed eyes, while others had chunks of flesh torn from their backs, still gushing blood. The most severe injuries were a wound on a leopard's thigh and a gash across a tiger beast's abdomen.

The ground where the tiger beast lay was soaked with blood. Part of its intestines protruded from the wound, its breathing was growing faint, and the beastmen gathered around it wore expressions of grief.

They all knew. With an injury that severe, Hu Tuo wasn't going to make it.

Shi Wei, standing beside the tiger beast, was also wounded. His face was cold and filled with anguish. He turned and furiously punched Ranmu, who was cowering to the side. "I told you something was off over there!" he roared. "Why did you insist on hunting in that direction?!"

"If it wasn't for saving you, Hu Tuo would never have gotten hurt so badly!"

Caught off guard, Ranmu stumbled back several steps from Shi Wei's punch. Knowing he was in the wrong, he said nothing.

It was, admittedly, his fault this time.

If he hadn't insisted on defying Shi Wei, wanting to break off from the group to hunt on his own, they wouldn't have been attacked by the Stray Beasts.

And Hu Tuo wouldn't have been grievously wounded trying to save him.

He had only wanted to antagonize Shi Wei; he never wanted other beastmen to get hurt because of him.

Ranmu lowered his head. "I'm sorry..." he said, his voice thick with guilt.

With an anguished expression, Ruer shouted, "Enough! Stop fighting! Is this really the time for us to be turning on each other?!"

"Hurry up and bring Granny Wu Zhi here!"

"He's here! He's here! Luo Dong is back!" a beastman shouted happily.

But when they saw Su Yu on Luo Dong's back, their expressions changed instantly. "Why is it her? Where's Granny Wu Zhi?!"

Shi Wei's expression changed as well. He hurried forward and lifted Su Yu down from Luo Dong's back. "Yu Yu, what are you doing here?"

Hearing the strength in his voice, the tension in Su Yu's heart instantly eased. She quickly shoved the herbs she was carrying into Shi Wei's arms. "These herbs can stop bleeding and reduce inflammation. Crush them and apply them to the wounds."

Shi Wei's face darkened the moment he saw the herbs. "You went out with the gathering team again today?!"

'Why is this female so disobedient! Running around outside while she's sick!'

"This isn't the time for that," Su Yu urged. "Hurry, go save them."

Shi Wei gritted his teeth. He told her to stay put, then carried the herbs over to be crushed, instructing the uninjured males to help apply them.

Ruer, assuming Granny Wu Zhi had sent Su Yu with the herbs, had no suspicions and began helping to treat the wounded males.

But the wound on Luo Jian's leg was too deep; it continued to bleed even after the herbal paste was applied.

Su Yu made a snap decision. She told Shi Wei to fetch the bone needles they used for sewing clothes, then had him use his superpower to sterilize one with high heat before suturing the wound.

Facing the beastmen's doubtful gazes, Su Yu explained simply, "If you stitch the wound closed before applying the medicine, the bleeding will stop."

Shi Wei said nothing, deftly following her instructions. He stitched the wound on Luo Jian's leg shut and applied the herbal paste. The bleeding finally stopped.

Su Yu could handle simple external wounds, but she was helpless against an injury as severe as Hu Tuo's.

Even if she knew how, she couldn't perform the procedure herself.

She couldn't see.

And she had no points for the system to deduct.

Just as Su Yu was debating whether to go into points-debt with the system to exchange for a Life-saving Pill for Hu Tuo, a roar echoed from the distance.

Luo Ge was back with Granny Wu Zhi.

Granny Wu Zhi had arrived prepared to find the males gravely injured, but she saw that their wounds were already dressed with herbs.

Even the wound on Luo Jian's thigh had been dealt with, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief.

Without taking the time to ask who had brought the herbs, Granny Wu Zhi went forward and deftly treated Hu Tuo's wound, activating her Healing Ability.

Only when Hu Tuo's breathing stabilized did Granny Wu Zhi sway to her feet. "There. Don't go out hunting for the next few days. Stay in your caves and recuperate."

Hu Tuo's brothers hurriedly thanked Granny Wu Zhi.

Su Yu also breathed a silent sigh of relief. Knowing there was nothing more for her to do, she was about to sneak away when her body was suddenly lifted into the air, making her cry out in shock.

Shi Wei held her, his expression cold and hard. "You're coming with me."

Su Yu didn't dare move, letting him carry her away obediently.

The moment they were back in the cave, before Su Yu could even speak, a sharp SLAP landed on her bottom.

Su Yu: "!!!"
