Su Yu's explosive shout, like the crack of divine thunder, boomed through the narrow, muddy street.
The zealous villager charging at the very front bore the brunt of it. Before he could even scream, he felt as if a thousand-pound hammer had viciously smashed into his ears.
The whites of his eyes showed instantly, and his body went limp as if boneless, falling stiffly into the mud and water, unconscious.
What followed was like a fierce wind scattering fallen leaves.
The dozen or so villagers behind him, holding rusted farm tools high, were washed over by the almost tangible, fan-shaped sonic boom. They fell in droves, like wheat being scythed.
In a single breath, the once crowded and noisy street fell deathly silent. The ground was littered with villagers clutching their ears, howling in pain, or lying unconscious. Only a handful remained standing!
