The dark blue moonlight filtered through the sheer curtains as Li Zhi tossed and turned in bed, twisting the corner of her blanket with her fingertips.
Her silk nightgown was already a mess of wrinkles, just like her heart, torn between rice cakes and the desire to sleep in.
'This bed is so comfortable. Why do I have to get up early to buy those stupid rice cakes?'
'They taste pretty good, sure, but not so good that it's worth getting up this early for a bite!'
'But I already agreed. What else can I do?'
"Li Zhi, oh, Li Zhi," she muttered. "Are you really going to give up your precious chance to sleep in, all for a couple of scoops of ice cream?"
Li Zhi suddenly threw off her air-conditioner blanket and sat up, the ends of her hair sticking up messily in the warm yellow glow of her bedside lamp.
"This is so annoying! It's all that fucking idiot Shen Yuan's fault!"
With that thought, Li Zhi turned and kicked a stuffed doll by the side of her bed.
