Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Sing Together

Kira Walton came over to get James Zimmers for a location shoot. Issac Sutton followed behind her, his face obscured by a mask and a pair of black-rimmed glasses, making himself as inconspicuous as possible.

"Come on, let's follow James Zimmers!" Leila Lane said, pulling Ivy Holden along as they chased after James's group.

An idea struck Ivy Holden, and she whispered to Leila Lane, "There's no point in just following them around. Go tell James Zimmers that I'm inviting them to lunch at that restaurant over there."

"Great!" Leila Lane wouldn't miss such a perfect opportunity to impress her crush.

Ivy Holden searched her memory and recalled a music-themed restaurant one street over, so she hurried in that direction. Unexpectedly, the moment she walked in the door, she saw Jensen Morrison sitting alone near the bar, talking on the phone. Good-looking people draw attention no matter what they're doing. Even though he was just casually sitting there on the phone, he seemed to have the natural aura of a romantic drama's male lead.

Jensen Morrison looked up and saw Ivy Holden. He gave her a small smile and beckoned her over.

Remembering that she had woken up in his bed after her rebirth, Ivy Holden felt her cheeks grow hot. She decided to pointedly ignore his presence and went straight to the bar to speak with the manager.

"Come and sit," Jensen Morrison said, beckoning to Ivy Holden again.

Ivy Holden reluctantly walked over. "How come I see you everywhere?" she asked.

"You're so heartless. You just climbed out of my bed this morning, and now you're already pretending you don't know me?"

Ivy Holden warned Jensen Morrison through gritted teeth, "You'd better forget everything that happened last night! Just pretend it never happened!"

"That's too difficult. I can't do it," Jensen Morrison sighed nonchalantly.

"Fine. Then I'll call my grandfather right now and tell him you did something improper to me..."

"Women truly are heartless creatures. Use a man and toss him aside," Jensen Morrison sighed in resignation.

"I'm sorry, but I've already booked this entire restaurant for lunch," Ivy Holden said.

"In any case, if you want to live the rest of your life in peace, you will wipe last night from your memory. And another thing—I've booked out this entire place, so don't you dare interfere with what I'm about to do! Or I'll have the owner throw you out."

Jensen Morrison just smiled. At that moment, a waiter walked over with a glass of coconut milk and asked in halting Chinese, "Boss, will you be needing anything else?"

Ivy Holden stared at the waiter, dumbfounded. "What did you just call him?"

Jensen Morrison waved a hand, dismissing the waiter, and explained to Ivy Holden himself, "As of nine o'clock this morning, this restaurant belongs to me."

"You..." Ivy Holden was suddenly exasperated. She tapped a finger on the table. "You're a superstar singer and a leading man who was just nominated for the Golden Phoenix Award. You're not singing or acting, so what are you doing running over here to buy a restaurant? Are you that bored?"

Jensen Morrison shrugged, smiling but saying nothing.

"Fine. Since you're the owner of this restaurant, then I guess that makes me your God. If you ruin my plans in a little while, I'm not paying the bill."

Jensen Morrison nodded good-naturedly. "Alright."

"What's your endgame?" Ivy Holden couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about Jensen Morrison. He'd always been as cold and remote as an arctic flower, so when had he become so approachable?

Jensen Morrison shook his head in resignation. "Don't assume every act of kindness has an ulterior motive. Before I left, your grandfather specifically told me that you were also coming to Mikar Island, and that I had to take good care of you. Otherwise, I wouldn't have rushed to your hotel to find you right after my plane landed last night. And besides, if I hadn't found you..."

"Okay, shut up!" Ivy Holden held up a hand to cut him off. She had zero desire to rehash what happened last night. Besides, Leila Lane was already leading James Zimmers and a few dozen other people into the restaurant.

"Okay." Jensen Morrison obediently closed his mouth.

Ivy Holden got up and helped the manager and staff get everyone seated, then personally went to ask James Zimmers what he'd like to eat. The whole crew had been busy all morning, so they were delighted to be treated to a free meal. Even James Zimmers's attitude toward Ivy warmed considerably. But wining and dining them was just the beginning. Ivy Holden's true objective was only revealed after everyone had eaten their fill.

"Everyone, this is a rare opportunity, so how about we ask our idol to sing a song for us?" Ivy Holden said into a microphone, making it impossible for anyone in the room to pretend they hadn't heard.

Instantly, the restaurant's atmosphere erupted as everyone began clapping and chanting James Zimmers's name.

The smile on James Zimmers's face froze.

Issac Sutton discreetly rubbed his nose and lowered his head.

"Everyone, please quiet down!" Kira Walton shouted, inwardly wanting to tear Ivy Holden to pieces. 'James Zimmers didn't sleep well last night, his throat is bothering him, and he's been busy all morning. He's exhausted. Some other time...'

"Hello, everyone." A mesmerizing voice flowed from the speakers, and the people in the restaurant immediately began to cheer.

"Jensen Morrison! It's Jensen Morrison!"

"AHHH—Morrison is actually here!"

"Morrison, look at me, look at me...!"

Though there were barely a hundred people present, their cheers had the force of a thousand. Jensen Morrison raised a hand, signaling for quiet. The restaurant fell silent instantly. James Zimmers clenched his fists and cursed under his breath. 'Are these my damn fans? Why is every single one of them hanging on Jensen Morrison's every word?'

"James Zimmers, seeing how excited everyone is, why don't you sing a song for them," Jensen Morrison said, dropping a bombshell with a smile. "I'll sing with you."
