"Who says I'm upset because of him? I'm just fine, whether he's here or not."

Rosalind Lowell frowned and patted his hand. "Stop it. I'm really fine."
Skylar Morrison sighed. "Alright, alright, you're right. Should I carry you back now? You're injured, so you should get plenty of rest. Besides, it's getting colder at night."
Rosalind Lowell nodded. Halfway back, she tugged at his collar. "Why do you think he left without even saying goodbye?"
"Maybe something important came up and he didn't have time. But he told the butler and asked him to pass the message on to us. Flying back and forth like this is exhausting, you know. It was already a big deal that he rushed back here for you."
"It doesn't matter."
She lowered her gaze, falling silent. 'He did have a point. Even though Alaric had to leave, he had kept his promise and returned. He didn't have to come at all, but he did.'
