Jessica Sutton froze, unsure if he was conscious or still drunk.
"Alaric, let me help you with your clothes. You're going to get hot."
Alaric's eyes snapped open. He shoved her away without an ounce of tenderness. "Why is it you?"
"You... Alaric, you're not drunk?"
Jessica Sutton was shocked and terrified. Most people were afraid of Alaric when he got angry.
"Why are you here?" Alaric repeated his earlier question.
Jessica Sutton thought for a moment. 'He's asking that... Does he not remember what just happened?'
So she decided to play along. "Alaric, don't you remember? You're the one who pulled me in here. You pulled me into your arms... you even hurt me. Don't you..."
She almost blurted out that he could check the surveillance footage, but then she remembered there definitely wouldn't be any cameras in the room. Otherwise, her lie would be exposed.
