"Alaric..."
"Yes?"
"Leave me alone for a bit."
Alaric was a little worried, but he agreed anyway.
He turned to look at her before leaving the room. "I'll be in the study. Call me if you need anything."
Rosalind nodded, watching him go. She sat there in a daze for a long time.
She got up, washed her face, and after breakfast, headed to the hospital. She told Alaric she was going out and didn't want Zeke Hayes to come with her.
Alaric agreed verbally, but he still sent someone to follow her from a distance.
Rosalind went to a remote hospital where no one knew Alaric, much less her.
Waiting for the results was agonizing.
"Rosalind Lowell."
She took a nervous breath before pushing the door open and sitting down across from the doctor, waiting for the verdict.
"It's an early intrauterine pregnancy."
Rosalind clutched her dress. Even though she had considered this possibility and thought she was prepared, she still found it hard to believe.
