On Saturday afternoon, Landon Hawthorne insisted on being discharged from the hospital despite everyone's objections. His assistant, unable to talk him out of it, had no choice but to go handle the paperwork.
A doctor came to give Landon Hawthorne his final check-up. Just as it was finishing, Caden Sterling arrived.
Landon Hawthorne was completely taken aback. "Well, well. What brings you here?"
"Came to see how you are." Caden Sterling dragged a stool over and sat by the hospital bed. "How'd you end up like this? Did some scoundrel do this to you?"
"You could say that," Landon Hawthorne said darkly, a hint of resentment in his voice.
Caden Sterling was baffled. He smiled and asked, "Who was so blind as to dare cross our Mr. Landon?"
