Sophia sat upon a large chair draped in furs, overlooking the city below from the top of the massive stone tower that stood at its heart. She had recently discovered that she truly loved this view, especially when the city bustled with life beneath her. From such a height, everything appeared small, orderly, and perfectly in its proper place.
Seventy years had passed since her first battle in this world, when she had faced the Bull of Wrath, and much had changed since then. After meeting the people who had been secretly observing her from among the trees, she learned that they belonged to a human settlement living in miserable conditions, forced to hide underground in narrow, dark tunnels simply to survive. They ventured onto the surface only during the night, while the Bull of Wrath slept, gathering whatever food and materials they could before retreating once more into the depths. The group she had encountered in that forest had been a hunting party tasked with collecting food and supplies.
After hearing about their situation, Sophia decided to accompany them. Her first and primary reason was entirely practical. She knew that her stay on the Outer Continent would last for thousands of years before she became qualified to enter the Tower and continue her training in an even harsher and deeper environment. During such an immense span of time, it would be impossible to live without a place to settle and return to between battles and journeys. Therefore, building a place where she could reside became a necessity, and that human settlement was the perfect starting point. She decided to make its people her followers, serving her and taking care of the daily necessities she had no intention of wasting her time on.
There was, however, a second reason. After understanding the miserable state in which humans lived in this world hiding beneath the earth in fear of monsters, unable to live normally she decided to provide them with at least one safe region. She would eliminate every threat surrounding them and open a secure territory for them. This did not conflict with the purpose for which she had come to this world; on the contrary, it perfectly served it. Destroying threats meant killing powerful creatures, and that was exactly what she desired more than anything.
Over the past seventy years, that small underground settlement had grown. After she eliminated many of the nearby threats that had restricted humanity's movements and forced them into hiding, the surrounding region gradually opened up, allowing people to live without the constant fear they had always known. This relative safety attracted additional groups of scattered humans from neighboring areas.
As a result, the settlement expanded gradually from narrow underground tunnels to buildings on the surface, then to multiple districts, until it eventually became the great city it was today. A true city with its markets, roads, and people. The enormous stone tower standing at its center served as Sophia's residence. It had been built exactly according to her orders, rising far above every other structure around it.
As for governing the humans and dealing with the countless administrative responsibilities involved in managing the city's daily affairs distributing resources, resolving disputes, organizing professions and trade, and everything else . Sophia had no interest whatsoever. She had not come to this world to rule or administer.
The reason she had entered this world had been clear from the very first moment: killing, slaughtering, and satisfying her dark desire to face opponents stronger than herself. That alone was worthy of her time and complete focus during the thousands of years awaiting her before attaining the rank of King.
Therefore, she personally trained a group of young women whom she carefully selected from among the inhabitants of her city. They had been chosen according to clear standards in her mind . intelligence, administrative ability, and personalities capable of bearing responsibility. She assigned each of them a specific aspect of the city's administration. One oversaw internal security, another managed resources, a third handled relations with the external human groups that maintained contact with the city, and so on.
Thus, this small team governed the city during her frequent absences, which sometimes lasted for weeks or even months while she wandered on her battles and expeditions. Whenever she returned, she always found the city running exactly as she had left it, without requiring her intervention in any of its affairs.
