"I fired her because I want to," I replied to that rather mundane question lazily. There was no need to talk about that unimportant woman, especially now that Jane was out of the picture. "Don't talk about her. She's a nobody in my eyes now."
"You haven't given me a real answer, Ray. Why did you fire her?" Claudia repeated her question. "I was the one who used chloroform and a rag to knock her out cold, and I used her phone to contact your driver and the building manager. If you want to punish someone for this mess, then you can punish me. It's not like I'm not used to it."
"Stop talking nonsense, Claudia. Jane has outlived her usefulness as my secretary. Don't worry, I've compensated her fairly, if that's what you want to know," I tried assuring her. Though it didn't seem to work, because she still looked upset. "Tsk, maybe you've been delirious because you fainted just now. Let me get the doctor."
