Chapter 2 - The Echo of an Unfinished Azure

1: The First Encounter in the Rain

The sky was a heavy shroud of grey. Neelima stood on the university veranda, her hand outstretched to catch the rhythmic patter of the rain. Suddenly, a worn-out umbrella tilted over her head. She looked up and met a pair of calm, deep eyes. The boy was Neel—a quiet artist with paint-stained fingers and a sketchbook tucked under his arm.

"You'll catch a cold," Neel said softly. "Take the umbrella."

Neelima smiled, and in that fleeting moment, her laughter became a permanent stroke on the canvas of Neel's heart. He was a dreamer from a humble world; she was the sheltered princess of an aristocratic empire. It was a meeting of the earth and the sky—beautiful, but impossible.

2: A World Built in Shadows

As the seasons changed, their world shrunk until it existed only between them. In the quiet corners of the library, the smoky air of the cafeteria, and the secluded benches of the park, they built a sanctuary. Neel would sketch her in his tattered diary, and Neelima would dream of a small cottage filled with the scent of oil paints.

One evening, Neel looked at his calloused hands and sighed. "Neelima, I am a man of shadows and ink. I have no gold to offer, no jewels to adorn you. I fear that the world will eventually pull you away from my grasp."

Neelima gripped his hand firmly. "Love isn't bought with jewels, Neel. I want to live within the strokes of your brush, not in a golden cage."
