Right now, the largest concentration of zombies was just outside the neighbors' gate.
But quite a few had gathered outside their own gate as well.
Especially after they had stepped out onto the balcony; an unknown number of zombies had already caught their scent.
"We're not going out. We'll stay in the courtyard and kill as many as we can."
Nina Jacobs could tell that something had drawn away a number of the zombies outside.
"Sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen…"
Leo Hale counted the zombies outside their gate on the drone feed. Curiously, a portion of them was now running in another direction.
"What in the world is happening?"
"Someone was discovered by the zombies."
"How do you know?"
'Looks like cursing out Shannon Renner worked,' Leo Hale thought, thrilled that Nina Jacobs was finally talking to him again.
"Just a guess."
It was indeed a guess. Nina Jacobs had overheard Holt Tate's words earlier and deduced that a group of people in hiding had met with disaster.
