(LIAM'S POV)
Rain hammered the forest in brutal silver drops, turning the world outside into something wild and half-alive.
Trees bent and groaned under the storm, their shadows twisting violently in the wind. Our SUV's headlights carved weak tunnels through the downpour as we bounced along a muddy track that barely deserved to be called a road. Every jolt sent fresh pain through my broken arm, but I barely noticed. My heart hammered with a chaotic mix of fear, curiosity, and that confusing warmth I couldn't shake—the one that came from being wanted here, between them.
