(BLUE'S POV)
I turned to face Mason, and my heart broke all over again. He was lying on the ground where I had placed him, his body curled into a fetal position, his hands still clutching his chest. He was sobbing—quiet, broken sobs that tore at my soul.
"Blue," he gasped, his eyes finding mine. They were red-rimmed, glowing and swollen, filled with so much pain that I could barely stand to look at them. "Blue, it hurts. Please make it stop. Please..."
I moved to him, dropping to my knees and gathering him into my arms. He was shaking so badly that I could feel every tremor through his body.
"I know, baby," I murmured, stroking his hair. "I know it hurts. I'm going to make it stop. I promise."
But even as I said the words, I knew I couldn't use the command on him. Not yet. Not until I had tried everything else. I never wanted to us my command on Mason. Never.
"Blue, give him the sedative," Erica said, holding out the vial.
