Five years ago, Selena’s world ended in humiliation and betrayal. Branded unworthy and cast aside, she disappeared without defending herself ,without revealing the truth. Now she is Ivanna Moreau. Stronger. Untouchable. Successful. When fate brings her back into the orbit of Adrian Laurent ,the powerful chairman who once let her walk away ,she has only one goal: protect the life she rebuilt and the two children who mean everything to her. But proximity is dangerous. Because Adrian isn’t the cold man she left behind. He is sharper. More observant. And disturbingly drawn to the mysterious woman who refuses to submit to him. As buried emotions resurface and silent glances turn into undeniable tension, old wounds reopen. Secrets tighten like a noose. And the past begins creeping into the present in ways neither of them can control. Ivanna swore she would never fall again. Adrian swore he would never regret. They were both wrong. Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Wedding that Shattered Everything

The cathedral gleamed under the morning sun, stained-glass windows scattering fractured rainbows across the polished floor. The scent of lilies mingled with faint incense, warm and heavy in the air. Selena's hands trembled around her bouquet. Today was supposed to be perfect, the day Adrian would make her his forever.

But something felt… wrong.

She remembered last night, the hush of their room, the candlelight reflecting in his eyes, the promises that had made her heart soar. She had trusted him completely, given him everything. And now, as she stepped into the aisle, her heels echoing sharply against the marble, every heartbeat thundered in her ears.

Adrian was waiting at the altar. He smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. A flicker of hesitation, a shadow of doubt. A shiver ran down her spine.

And then a voice cut through the cathedral like a whip.

"Stop this wedding…NOW!"

Gasps erupted. The organ faltered mid-note. Guests froze, heads turning toward the voice. Whispers spread like wildfire.

Adrian's mother, Sylvia emerged, heels clicking sharply against the marble. Her eyes blazed, lips twisted into a cruel sneer.

"Selena… you are not worthy of my son, I never even gave my blessing to this wretched marriage !" she spat, voice echoing like a whip.

Selena's stomach dropped. "What…?" she whispered, disbelief cracking her voice.

Adrian opened his mouth, then closed it. His gaze flicked to his mother, then back at Selena. Hesitation. Fear. Guilt. Then… something she never expected.

"I'm sorry Selena but this is a mistake…I mean we're a mistake everything we had a mistake " Adrian said, his voice cold and cutting, loud enough for the entire cathedral to hear. "You shouldn't even be here…you don't belong here"

The words hit her like a hammer. A gasp ran through the crowd, but Selena couldn't hear anything except her own heart shattering. Her legs buckled. She tried to take another step, but the world spun, and she fell right in the center of the aisle, before the entire audience.

A loud rip tore through her gown as she hit the floor. The fabric gave way completely along the seam, leaving her exposed and trembling. The shock, the pain, the humiliation…it was unbearable. Gasps, whispers, and a few stifled laughs filled the cathedral.

Her hands flew to cover herself. Her face burned hotter than she had ever imagined possible. Tears blurred her vision. Every step she had taken to this altar, every word of love she had believed in, every hope for a future with Adrian…gone.

Adrian's mother stepped closer, towering over her, her voice sharp and deliberate.

"You see?" she said, gesturing to Selena on the floor. "This is why she is not worthy. She is clumsy. Ungraceful. A girl from nothing, pretending to belong here….a nasty gold digger "

Adrian opened his mouth again, and for a heartbeat, it looked like he would move toward her—but his shoulders stiffened. Something..or someone..held him back. His eyes met hers, haunted, torn, desperate but he stayed silent, frozen by fear or obedience.

Humiliation crashed over Selena like a tidal wave. She scrambled backward, ignoring the pain, her fingers clutching the torn fabric of her gown as she sprinted not run sprinted out of the wedding hall. The whispers, the eyes, the judgment of every guest pressed into her like a weight she could not escape.

Then adrenaline and fury surged. She dialed her father, her voice raw and trembling. "Dad! You… you have to come… now!"

A calm, steady voice answered. "I'm on my way, Selena. Don't do anything rash, sweetie ."

Her heart leapt. He was coming….her father is coming.

Selena dared one glance back towards the aisle before stepping out completely . Adrian's mother stood triumphant, her cruel smile wide and satisfied. Adrian's eyes were haunted but he remained restrained, silent, and complicit in her disgrace.

Humiliation had been total….she has never been this humiliated in her entire life.Betrayal had cut deep. And in that moment, clarity struck Selena like lightning: she had been used, dismissed, humiliated and they would pay.

Her hands clenched into fists. Her eyes burned with fury. They had made a mistake.
