"ALEXANDER, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lied to you. Can you forgive me?"
For the past several days, Lilian had sent countless messages like this.
She knew Alexander would not answer her calls.
Ever since the truth came out, he had grown colder with each passing day, until even hearing his voice felt like an impossible luxury.
Still, Lilian refused to give up.
She sat on the edge of her bed, clutching her phone tightly, staring at the silent screen as though sheer desperation could force him to reply.
Then another message was sent.
ALEXANDER, will you still come to my birthday party tomorrow? It's my first birthday after returning home… I really hope you'll come.
There was hesitation beneath every word.
The party had been planned long in advance.
But now, after everything that had happened, even getting him to attend felt uncertain.
