The next few days passed in a blur. Since that night on the balcony, Alexander and I had barely spoken. We only found ourselves in the same room when it was necessary.
The first time the doctors came to examine Aimy while Alexander was at the office, I asked Maria not to call him. I didn't want to disturb him. He clearly hadn't appreciated that decision, so after that, I stopped interfering. Whenever the doctors visited, he would leave work, stay until they finished examining Aimy, and then return to the office.
Aimy had almost fully recovered, yet no one would tell me exactly what had happened to her. I had a feeling Alexander knew more than he was saying, which only made me more suspicious. If it wasn't serious, why keep it from me? Still, I never confronted him about it.
