Max's office was quiet, extremely quiet to the point where a single pin would echo through the room.
He sat in his seat, hands locked into each other as he stared forward, at Silas who just stood calmly in front of him.
Neither of them said anything, only staring at each other before Max broke the silence with a smile.
"You've become master Sebastian's disciple," he said calmly.
Silas nodded gently.
"We should have celebrated it alongside my breakthrough tomorrow, alas, we have things to sort now."
As he said those words, his face turned grim. Pure, undiluted anger radiated from him.
Silas was terrified by this side of Max he saw. The normal Max he knew was always playing around or teasing.
"April, call Alfred," Max said mentally.
After a few seconds, it connected.
"Why are you calling?" Alfred asked with an exasperated tone like he had just finished climbing a mountain.
"Come back now," Max said, his tone slow but the authority behind it was undeniable.
