Chapter 10: The Golden Carriage and the Widow's Web
The aftermath of the Celestial Sage Academy siege felt like a waking dream. The morning sun rose over a campus that was physically intact but spiritually leveled. The "Geniuses" of Grade A wandered the halls with hollow eyes, their arrogance shattered by the realization that they had been saved by the very "trash" they once spat upon.
Tian Mo did not stay to receive their gratitude.
He stood at the Academy gates, the 2-Star Supreme Teacher badge pinned to his chest. It was no longer just a piece of metal; it was a beacon. To his left stood Princess Mo Ling, her posture rigid, and to his right, Su Qingyuan, whose veil fluttered in the mountain breeze.
"The Hung Kingdom is too small for what comes next," Tian Mo said, looking toward the southern horizon. "The 10x Foundation I have built requires a higher grade of spiritual fuel. The energy density in this region has been sucked dry by my breakthrough."
"The Great Capital of the Myriad Kingdom Alliance," Mo Ling said, her voice tinged with a rare touch of anxiety. "It is a city of a hundred kings. Even a 2-Star Supreme Teacher is just a drop in the ocean there."
"Then we will turn that drop into a storm," Tian Mo replied.
The Departure of the Sovereign
A massive golden carriage, pulled by four Storm-Hoof Stallions, waited at the base of the mountain. It bore the crest of the Black Gold Auction House—the wealthiest and most dangerous commercial entity in the alliance.
A woman stepped out of the carriage. She was dressed in mourning black, but the silk was so fine it shimmered like a raven's wing. A sheer black veil covered her face, but her silhouette was a masterpiece of lethal elegance. This was Madam Yue, the "Violet Widow," the head of the Auction House and a woman whose influence could bankrupt a kingdom with a single stroke of a brush.
"Teacher Tian Mo," Madam Yue said, her voice a sultry, melodic hum that carried the weight of hidden daggers. "The news of your 'Exorcism by Logic' reached my ears before the fires were even out. A man who can refine 100% pure pills from weeds is a man my House cannot afford to ignore."
Tian Mo scanned her.
[Scanning Subject: Madam Yue.]
[Condition: Frost-Jade Constitution (Corrupted).]
[Detection: Her husband wasn't killed by enemies; he died because her internal cold-Qi froze his heart during a Dual-Cultivation session. She is a walking iceberg.]
"Your 'Frost-Jade' is leaking, Madam," Tian Mo said, his voice flat as he walked toward the carriage. "The reason you wear so much silk isn't for fashion; it's to hide the fact that your skin turns blue every time the sun sets."
Madam Yue froze. Her hand, hidden in her sleeve, tightened into a fist. "You... you can see through the 'Obsidian Concealment' array?"
"An array is just a set of rules," Tian Mo said, stepping into the carriage without waiting for an invitation. "And rules always have a loophole. If you want to live past the next winter solstice, drive the carriage. We are going to the Capital."
The Journey: The 10x Lectures Continue
The carriage was a mobile palace, reinforced with spatial arrays that made the interior much larger than the exterior. Inside, the nine students sat in two rows. Despite the luxury, they were in deep meditation.
"Listen closely," Tian Mo addressed them as the carriage moved. "We are entering the Myriad Alliance. There, you will encounter 'Real' geniuses—those born with spirit-roots that put yours to shame. If you rely on talent, you will die. You must rely on Efficiency."
He pulled out a map of the human meridian system.
"A normal cultivator allows their Qi to flow in a circle," Tian Mo explained, his finger tracing the lines on the map. "But a circle is a loop of wasted energy. I want you to adopt the 'Fractal Pulse'. Instead of one loop, you will create a thousand micro-vortices at every junction point."
[Ding! Teaching Intent: Level 3.]
[Student Success Rate: 94%.]
[Logic: Fractal Geometry applied to Spiritual Circulation.]
As the students began to adjust their breathing, the carriage itself began to vibrate. The Storm-Hoof Stallions neighed in terror. The surrounding air was being sucked into the carriage windows—Tian Mo's students were collectively acting as a spiritual vacuum, pulling the Qi from the passing forests.
Madam Yue, sitting across from Tian Mo, watched in silent horror. She had seen the greatest geniuses of the Alliance, but this... this was organized plunder.
"You aren't teaching them," she whispered. "You're building a weapon."
"A teacher's job is to ensure his students aren't casualties," Tian Mo replied. He looked at her. "Now, about your 'Frost-Jade' problem. Your husband's death was a flaw in his cultivation, not yours. He was 'Fire-Type', wasn't he?"
Madam Yue's eyes filled with a sudden, sharp pain. "Yes. The Royal Physicians said our elements clashed."
"The elements didn't clash; they were out of phase," Tian Mo corrected. "It's a simple matter of Thermal Synchronization. If you had pulsed your Qi at a frequency of 3.2 hertz, the cold would have become a lubricant for his fire, not a cage."
He reached out and tapped her wrist.
[Logic Strike: Thermal Reset.]
Madam Yue gasped as a surge of warmth—actual, blistering heat—rushed through her frozen veins. For the first time in ten years, the blue tint on her fingernails vanished.
"I've temporarily bypassed your primary cold-node," Tian Mo said, pulling his hand away. "If you want a permanent fix, I need access to the Alliance's Forbidden Herb Garden. I believe your Auction House has a key."
Madam Yue looked at her glowing skin, then at the man who had just solved a decade of agony with a single tap. She realized then that Mo Ling and Su Qingyuan weren't just followers; they were the first two to realize that the world was about to be rewritten.
"The key is in the Capital," she said, her voice now filled with a genuine, terrifying loyalty. "And I will kill anyone who stands in your way of getting it."
Arrival: The City of a Hundred Kings
The carriage crested the final hill, revealing the Great Capital. It was a city that defied logic. Massive towers of floating jade were connected by bridges of solid light. At the center stood the Supreme Teacher Pavilion HQ, a structure so tall its peak was permanently lost in the stars.
But as they approached the gate, a blockade of white-armored knights stood in their path. At their head was a man in 3-Star Supreme Teacher robes—Elder Zhao.
"Halt!" Zhao's voice boomed, amplified by a 'Voice-Throwing' formation. "The carriage of the Black Gold Auction House is welcome, but the heretic Tian Mo is forbidden from entry. By order of the Alliance Council, he is to be detained for the murder of Vice-Principal Mu and the theft of Royal Resources."
Tian Mo stepped out of the carriage. The wind of the high plateau caught his robes.
"The murder of a traitor is called an execution," Tian Mo said, his voice reaching the ears of every knight despite their armor. "And the 'resources' I took are currently residing in the foundations of my students. If you want them back, you'll have to dismantle nine future Masters."
He turned to his students.
"Lu Feng. The gates are closed. What is the flaw in a 'Heaven-Lock' formation?"
Lu Feng stepped forward, his eyes glowing. "The flaw, Teacher, is that it relies on the 'Weight' of the earth. If you unbalance the 'Gravity-Node' at the base, the whole wall becomes as light as paper."
"Then show them," Tian Mo commanded.
Lu Feng didn't draw a sword. He simply walked to the massive city wall, found a small, inconspicuous stone at the corner, and kicked it.
CRACK.
The "Heaven-Lock" formation, which had stood for five hundred years, flickered and died. The massive iron gates of the Great Capital groaned and swung open as if pushed by a ghost.
Tian Mo walked through the gates, Madam Yue, the Princess, and the Saintess following in a triangle formation behind him.
"Elder Zhao," Tian Mo said as he passed the paralyzed 3-Star Master. "I'm here for the 3-Star Trial. And tell the Council... I'm not here to join them. I'm here to fix them."
