With Michael leading the way Blaze and Akeno made their way into the shrine to find a sword floating in the air emitting a holy aura
"This is Ascalon, the dragon slaying sword of sir George, we would like you to have it" Michael informed Blaze
"Well I'm not going to say no but why? I'm not exactly a swordswoman and it's not like I plan to fight any dragons or stuff like that" Blaze asked Michael
"The reason is actually quite simple, Ascalon is actually similar to holy swords such as Durandal and Excalibur in that it choses it's wielder, although through our powers we are able to make it so that anyone is able to wield it doing so would deminish it's powers making it just an incredibly sharp sword with holy and dragon slaying properties without it providing the benefits of being it's actual weilder" Micheal explained
"What do you mean by that?" Blaze asked confused
"Being selected by a holy sword has extra benefits if it accepts you voluntarily, the best example of which would be Xenovia who you know, the reason she is stronger than Irina is that Durandel is starting to accept her and is incorperating its aura into hers slowly making her stronger over time, this is why all the wielders of holy or demonic swords have always been strong even from humble beginings, using a factor to allow someone to weilder Excalibur means that the sword doesn't full accept that person and as such they will be weaker and the sword itself will also not be as durable, it is because of a similar situation in the past where the weilder of Excalibur wasn't fully accepted by it that Excalibur shattered in the first place" Micheal continued
"So you mean Ascalon selected me?" Blaze questioned Michael while looking at the sword
"It would seem that it did, due to bathing in dragons blood Ascalon became more powerful than it looks and looks for such raw strength in it's wielders, up until this point the only one it has reacted to was Vasco Strada who already had Durandal and he didn't wish to become Ascalons wielder as well as he felt it would be wrong to use both weapons at the same time and decided to devote himself to Durandal in much the same way that he was able to use Excalibur but prefered to use Durandal" Michael smiled as he kept answering Blaze's questions as she asked them with patience
"If that's the case I guess it would be wrong of me to reject you or Ascalon" Blaze remarked, reaching out and grabbing it by the handle
"Want me to fuse with it in the same way that Issei does in the anime" suggested Herm
"Absolutely not, I don't want a sword sticking out of my urethra" Blaze retorted
"You really are no fun sometimes" snickered Herm as she knew that her thought had been seen through
"If there is nothing else I must be going now" Michael declared
"Just one more quick thing, you might have heard Xenovia is a holy devil now" Blaze stated
"I have, I would very much like to know how you were able to achieve something like that" Michael answered
"Well can you unexcommunicate her now? she is still able to pray but she has friends and family at the church that she would like to see again and it would feel awkward if she wasn't able to see them again just because some asshole said that God was dead with her in earshot" Blaze inquired
"That should not be a problem" Michael agreed "while investigating her status due to her being the wielder of Durandal and being asked to do so by a few high ranked members of the church who are close to her such as the friends and family that you have mentioned I noticed that her holy power has increased slightly lately and that because of this the holy power that she now wields would be able to offset the problems that her knowledge about gods death would cause"
"Thanks a bunch, as for how I was able to make Xenovia into a holy devil, let's just say that my sacred gear is able to change things to the opposite side of the coin, changing black to white, hot to cold and of course demonic to holy" Blaze grinned
"Sounds like quite the sacred gear, it seems that my lord was more powerful and smarter than anyone could ever have known if he was able to create such a sacred gear" Michael smiled "now I must be going, it was a pleasure to meet you ms Aurum"
"You too, and don't bother with all the formal stuff, I don't care about it so just feel free to call me Blaze" she commented
"Very well, goodbye Blaze" Michael stated before disappearing in a flash of light
"I guess after this I should get Kiba to teach me how to handle a sword" Blaze thought
"I can help a little bit with that as like I've told you in the past I have watched many people fight in the past but unfortunately neither of the souls that make you up have any experince with a sword so you won't be able to use it to fight as well as just using your fists, so for the time being your best bet is just to carry it around with you and use it's aura and holy sword boost during battles" Herm added
"I've got to admit the guy part of my soul does think I would look pretty good with a sword strapped to my back" Blaze grinned
"Yeah, you don't need one strapped to your waist as I have already sorted that for you" Herm chuckled
"Oh fuck off" Blaze retorted "now, I guess it's time to do as I promised and tell Akeno about.... well you"
"Harem member number 3 baby" celebrated Herm as Blaze made her way into the adjacent room where Akeno was waiting.
