The medical room was still tense.
No one had moved much since the portal closed.
In Ren's hand, the sticky note from Himiko Toga crinkled slightly as he turned it over again.
That's when something small slid out from the fold.
Tap.
A tiny object landed on the blanket.
Everyone looked down.
"…Is that a USB?" Denki asked.
Ren blinked.
"…I think so."
Aizawa immediately stepped closer.
"Don't plug that into anything yet."
Principal Nezu tilted his head thoughtfully.
"…Actually, let's see what they want."
A few minutes later, the USB was connected to the large TV mounted on the medical room wall.
The screen stayed black for a moment.
Then—
CLICK.
The video started.
The camera shook violently.
A blurry hand covered the lens.
A familiar scratchy voice spoke.
"Uh…"
The hand moved.
"...this thingy on?"
The camera tilted sideways.
Then right-side up.
The room in the video came into focus.
A couch.
A messy room.
Broken furniture in the background.
And sitting awkwardly in front of the camera was Tomura Shigaraki.
He leaned forward, squinting at the screen.
"…Yeah, okay, it's on."
Behind him someone groaned.
"Finally."
A tall man with burn scars walked into frame.
Dabi dropped onto the couch beside him.
A dark mist swirled to the other side as Kurogiri calmly appeared and sat down.
For a few seconds…
No one said anything.
Shigaraki scratched his neck awkwardly.
"…Alright kid."
He looked directly into the camera.
Which meant he was looking directly at Ren.
"If you're watching this, it means you found the USB."
Dabi leaned forward slightly.
"And it means you didn't throw it away like a smart person would."
Shigaraki pointed lazily at the screen.
"First thing."
His voice became colder.
"If you tell anyone about where this video came from…"
Dabi finished the sentence calmly.
"…we will find you."
The medical room went silent.
Even though they were literally surrounded by pro heroes.
Then Shigaraki leaned back.
"…You okay, kid?"
The entire room froze.
Ren blinked.
On the TV, Dabi looked sideways at Shigaraki.
"…Did you just ask a hero student if he's okay?"
Shigaraki shrugged.
"He almost died yesterday."
From the background, Dabi muttered again.
"…You good though?"
A pause.
Then Dabi spoke louder.
"…Seriously. You looked pretty messed up."
Mount Lady whispered in the medical room.
"…Why are villains checking on him?"
On the TV, Shigaraki rubbed the back of his neck.
"This whole video thing wasn't even my idea."
Dabi sighed.
"…Yeah."
He pointed behind the camera.
"You can thank the crazy blood girl for that."
Kurogiri nodded politely.
"Miss Toga was… very insistent."
Shigaraki leaned closer to the camera again.
"She said if we didn't send you something she'd break into UA again."
Ren slowly facepalmed.
"…That tracks."
Dabi smirked slightly.
"Anyway."
He crossed his arms.
"Blood girl says hi."
Shigaraki scratched his neck again.
"And she said to tell you she's still watching."
The room got quiet again.
Then Dabi leaned toward the camera one more time.
"…Also."
He pointed at Ren through the screen.
"Next time you fight some psycho scientist…"
"…try not to almost die again."
Shigaraki nodded.
"Yeah."
"…It was annoying."
Kurogiri stood.
"I believe that concludes the message."
Dabi looked back at the camera.
"…You still alive, kid?"
The video froze for a second.
Then cut to black.
END FILE
The TV went dark.
No one in the medical room spoke for several seconds.
Finally Denki whispered:
"…Did villains just send Ren a 'get well soon' video?"
Kirishima slowly nodded.
"…Yeah."
Aizawa rubbed his face tiredly.
"…I need a coffee."
Ren looked down at the USB in his hand.
Completely confused.
Somehow…
Things had just gotten even weirder.
