Chapter 2: The Storm Over Sunflower Valley
The next morning, Princess Zara hurried back to the forest with a bright smile. She couldn't stop thinking about Sparkle and his tiny shimmering wings.
When she reached the blue lake, Sparkle was already there, trying very hard to fly.
"Watch this!" he said bravely.
He flapped his glittering wings and lifted higher than before. For a few seconds, he floated in the air.
"You're doing it!" Zara cheered.
But suddenly, dark clouds began to gather above them. The bright sky slowly turned gray. The wind started to blow strongly, making the trees sway from side to side.
Sparkle landed quickly. "What's happening?" he asked nervously.
Zara looked toward the kingdom. In the distance, she could hear people shouting. The storm was moving fast toward Sunflower Valley.
"I have to go back!" Zara said. "The kingdom might be in danger."
Without thinking twice, Sparkle followed her.
By the time they reached the castle gates, the storm had grown wild. Thunder roared loudly. Lightning flashed across the sky.
CRACK!
A bolt of lightning struck one of the castle towers. Flames began to rise, dancing dangerously in the strong wind.
The guards tried to control the fire, but the storm was too powerful.
People were scared.
Sparkle trembled. "I'm too small… I can't help."
Zara knelt beside him. "Remember what I told you? Being brave doesn't mean you aren't scared. It means you try anyway."
Sparkle looked at the burning tower. His heart beat fast. He was afraid… but he also wanted to protect Zara and the kingdom.
Taking a deep breath, Sparkle spread his shining wings.
The wind pushed against him, but this time he did not fall.
Higher and higher he flew.
As he reached above the castle, his wings began to glow brighter than ever before. Sparkles of light fell from the sky like magical rain.
The glowing sparkles touched the flames.
Slowly… the fire began to shrink.
The storm clouds started to fade.
The wind became softer.
With one final powerful flap, Sparkle released a shower of shimmering light across the sky.
And just like that… the storm disappeared.
The people of Sunflower Valley looked up in amazement.
"The dragon saved us!" someone shouted.
Sparkle gently landed beside Princess Zara. He was tired, but proud.
"You flew," Zara said softly, smiling.
Sparkle smiled back. "I believed."
From that day on, Sparkle was no longer the tiny dragon who was afraid to fly. He became the Guardian Dragon of Sunflower Valley.
And everyone knew that courage, kindness, and friendship were the strongest magic of all.
