Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

What surprised Haruto the most was that Evolution had acquired the ability of [Space Teleportation].

Being an ability of the space system, it is considered a top-level power, as time and space are paramount. The saying "Time is respected and space is king" is not a joke.

According to his understanding, this ability should have come from the super-Kryptonian, Zod.

Zod is the most powerful Kryptonian warrior and is immune to the effects of kryptonite. His performance in the comics is so impressive that his opponents are defeated by him every time.

Not only that, but he also has the ability to travel through time. It can be said that this character integrates both space and time capabilities.

Since the Doomsday gene within Haruto already includes all the abilities of Kryptonians, he can possess them as long as he continues to evolve. Therefore, this is also part of his ability to evolve through the Zod series.

Although he does not have the ability to evolve time yet, Haruto felt some regret. Then, he remembered the reward from the mission.

In the quest to kill Goetia, in addition to the reward of the World Forge, there is also the [Omega Effect]. It also possesses space-time capabilities.

He recalled that Batman kept traveling through parallel timelines and universes to avoid Superman's Omega Rays, yet the rays continued to track him. One can only imagine the power of this Omega Ray.

Haruto stopped overthinking and wanted to try [Space Teleportation] immediately.

Haruto's soul power spread, sensing the sun's corona in the distance, and then he activated [Space Teleportation].

A ray of light flickered, and Haruto arrived at the corona of the sun.

It was fast. Although his current flight speed had exceeded the speed of light, [Space Teleportation] felt much more efficient.

Then, Haruto checked if he could return directly from the sun to the Earth. He radiated his perception.

Italy.

A church building annex.

A little girl in a nun's uniform was surrounded by a group of church personnel, who were pointing at her.

"That girl is not..."

"Yes, that's the nun's daughter."

"I heard that her mother committed suicide and her father ran away. I don't want to see her anymore."

"How pitiful."

"Don't talk nonsense; this girl's physique is quite special."

"She is able to perceive demons."

"As long as there are demons around, she bleeds."

"Oh, how convenient!"

While people were gossiping, a majestic priest appeared. He said to the little girl:

"Caren Hortensia, your physique is special. From now on, you will be the church's radar for exorcising demons."

Caren's face remained expressionless, as if she didn't care that others were deciding her life so simply.

At that moment, a sneer sounded.

"Hahaha, the people in the church are truly 'righteous,' using a little girl as a tool? How hypocritical."

"Who's there?"

"Who is slandering our church?"

When everyone reacted, they were filled with righteous indignation, searching for the source of the voice, wanting to tear the daring madman to shreds.

However, they looked left and right and could not find the figure at all.

"What's going on?" The church personnel whispered among themselves, their faces dazed.

"Blind men, look above your heads."

As the voice fell, everyone in the church, including Caren, looked up.

They found a handsome young man with messy black hair and eyes like stars floating in the air. The sun behind the youth radiated light, making it look like a divine glow from the Lord shining behind him.

It was Haruto who had arrived.

While testing [Space Teleportation], he had sensed this place in Italy. He only remembered her when he saw the nun with silver hair, golden pupils, fair skin, and a petite figure.

Caren Hortensia.

Her father is the "pleasure priest," Kotomine Kirei. Her father abandoned her after her mother committed suicide and gave her up for adoption to the church.

Because of Caren's special physique—the medium of tortured spirits—if she gets close to a demon, spiritual obstacles automatically manifest, and her entire body suffers as if she were injured.

The church exploited her, using her as a tool to be violated by those possessed by so-called demons. Like her father, her innate sense of pain seemed broken.

She was a very tragic girl.

But since Haruto had encountered her today, he would not allow this to happen. Therefore, he used [Space Teleportation] to come here.

Caren and the other church members raised their heads and looked at Haruto with disbelief. For a moment, they thought a god had descended into the world.

Haruto enjoyed the feeling of floating and descending more and more. Previously, when watching Superman, he didn't feel much when they floated while talking, but now that he experienced it himself, it felt very cool.

Haruto stretched out his hand and used his telekinesis on Caren.

Caren's body suddenly became lighter, and she slowly floated up toward him.

The surrounding church personnel looked on in surprise. They were aware of the "mysterious side" and knew some magicians could do this, but they could perceive that the young man in front of them was not using magic.

At this point, they boldly guessed: was he a god? In any case, the person in front of them seemed too powerful to offend.

An elderly and well-informed priest asked:

"Who are you... a Demon?"

Caren heard him. A demon? She felt herself floating in the air as she drew closer to the handsome young man. Perhaps only God possessed such power.

"A Demon? Hahaha."

"I am not a demon."

"I am simply a destroyer walking the earth."

Haruto shook his head. He was not a demon, and there was no demonic element within him.

Hearing Haruto's words, everyone thought of the worst. After all, that title didn't sound good. They could only wonder: was he a Devil? A Demon King?

Some people, consumed by fear, wanted to run away. They quietly tried to step back, but fearing they would disturb Haruto, they could only move a few millimeters at a time.

Naturally, Haruto saw this and couldn't help but laugh internally. They were truly weak.

He then took Caren, stretching out his arms to hug her. Caren felt the man's breath and felt a strange sensation in her heart. Perhaps it was the charm of Haruto's presence. She didn't hate the feeling.

Haruto observed Caren carefully; she truly was a beautiful girl. If it weren't for meeting him, her future would have been a nightmare. Thinking of this, Haruto looked at Caren with eyes full of pity.

Caren felt his gaze. She wondered about this man's eyes; they weren't like her father's, but perhaps more like her mother's.

"It really is a special physique," Haruto sighed.

When the church personnel heard this, they wondered if Haruto was attracted by Caren's condition. They knew such a physique attracted demons, so they assumed the man was no different.

Some even spoke out:

"Damn, this monster actually attracts such a powerful demon!"

"Monster, get out! You are not welcome in the church!"

Some pointed at Caren and cursed:

"Lord Demon, take this nun! Please just let me go!"

Others knelt down, kowtowing and begging for mercy. In order to survive, they abandoned Caren instantly.

Haruto watched their display of cowardice like they were clowns. His eyes suddenly turned red as he looked at those who were scolding Caren.

With a searing red light, a heat vision shot out from Haruto, hitting them directly. The people around felt the scorching rays and watched as the men evaporated instantly, leaving nothing behind.

All that remained was pure terror.

Caren opened her mouth slightly, looking at Haruto in shock. After dealing with one, Haruto turned to another.

The man saw Haruto's scarlet eyes and hurriedly knelt, begging:

"Please spare me, Lord! I will be your servant, I will be anything! Please spare my life!" He kept kowtowing, his head hitting the floor with a "bang bang" sound.

At that moment, Caren stretched out her fair little hand and touched Haruto's face.

"No, spare him," she said, looking at Haruto with a conflicted expression.

She knew Haruto was standing up for her, but she didn't want these people killed, even though they had treated her poorly. Perhaps this was why she was called a saint.

Haruto felt her small hand, and his eyes returned to normal. He smiled and rubbed Caren's head.

"You really are a saint. I truly can't leave you here."

"In that case, little saint, I am taking you with me."

Leaving them with those words, Haruto ignored the church personnel. He activated [Space Teleportation], and with a flash of light, he vanished with Caren.
