Synopsis
Astrael’s life was predictable: endless office work, late buses, and the occasional flooded apartment. Until one night, a series of accidents he somehow avoids awakens him to a blinding truth—a humanoid system, radiating pure light, announces him as a Minor God. Pulled from his mundane world into a reality of divine power, Astrael discovers he has been granted dominion over Shelters—a skill of unimaginable potential. To survive, he must gain believers, expand his authority, and navigate the delicate balance between mortal loyalty and cosmic politics. But being a god isn’t as simple as it sounds. Other deities watch his every move, accidents he once avoided were no coincidence, and the world itself is testing him. Astrael must learn to wield his powers—or risk losing not just his godhood, but the fragile lives he swore to protect. From flooded apartments to divine realms, this is the story of a reluctant god discovering that even in a world of limitless power, responsibility—and faith—comes at a cost. tag: slowpaced

"Astrael ensure the boss gets those papers"

"Yo, El, is the presentation for next week ready?"

"Hi, Mr Astrael, could you please take at this report?"

"Astrael, there's a mistake in these calculations"

"Astrael..."

"Mr Astrael"

"Sir"

'This is how it always is. It's already 9pm, I better hurry to make the last bus' I sighed as I clocked off for the day and walked towards the bus station.

The bus station was sparsely occupied, per usual. 'Just in time' I thought as I noticed droplets of water—rain—trickling down my face, 'Better get under the canopy'

After a while, I sighted the bus from afar. 'Finally, it's here. Wait why isn't it slowing down, don't tell me it's not stopping at this station'

"Hey, hey, wait" I shouted, hoping the driver would hear me and slow down, "Eh, why's it turning?" I shouted moving out of it's path as it crashed into the waiting area

'I hope he's okay' But my thoughts were drowned out by police and ambulance sirens.

'Now how do I get home,' I sighed internally as I started walking

After almost 2 hours of walking in the dark, my apartment was in sight.

'Why's everywhere flooded? I can swear I didn't leave the tap on, today's just getting worse and worse,' I complained silently as I put on my rainboots and walked into the house. 'That's weird, my tap is off,' I thought as I caught a naked wire sparking in the water through my peripheral vision 'HOLY FUCK!' I immediately rushed to take it out.

"Yay, new accomplishment; worse day ever" I said as I collapsed on my bed "I'll take care of all this tomorrow" I muttered as I drifted asleep, only to be awoken by a blindingly bright light

Upon opening my eyes, I saw a humanoid figure, radiating pure light "Who-" but before I could finish, it began to speak

"#I am the minor god system, and this is your god realm, congratulations#"

" My god realm?" I responded with a puzzled look plastered on my face

"#You have been selected to become a minor god. I was forced to extract you from your previous plane, seeing as you avoided the accidents I curated#" They responded with stoicism on their face... Or at least that what I felt would have been it's expression if it had a face

"So you're the one who made me miss my bus, AND FLOODED MY APARTMENT!! And here I thought Mondays couldn't be any worse" I asked with suppressed bubbling anger

"#the cost of pulling a soul from the reincarnation cycle is easier than pulling one from a living host, but you avoided the accidents I planned out, and time was off the essence so I had no option, than to pull it from your sleeping body#"

Before I could process everything the system entity spoke again. "#My time is up, I'll take my leave here, I wish you luck, Astrael, god of shelters" It said as it turned into light particles, and poured into me, and power I couldn't comprehend began to fill me.
