Chapter 32 - Chapter 32

— General POV, Two Months Later —

It had been two months since Adem began to attend therapy.

He was not entirely honest with his therapist, he couldn't be without revealing some ground breaking information and confessing to gruesome crimes, but he did give the doctor enough to receive good feedback.

Since Adem feared his 'god-like' powers turning him into a psychopath the doctor suggested he might want to try out actively helping people. Not just performing rescues when he sees them, but actively finding people at risk and helping them.

So he did.

He flew to Memphis- the crime capital of the United States.

He listened for people calling out for help.

He was shocked by how many there were, he had to filter out minor problems from violent crimes, but once he got the gist of it he could actively find who needed his help within a dozen mile radius without it overwhelming him.

The first person he helped was a middle aged lawyer. He was getting robbed in a dark alleyway that would make Crime Alley look like Disneyland.

After stopping the robbery the man had thanked him profusely. And Adem had actually felt slightly good about himself.

He then went on to save dozens of others. He stopped a girl from getting kidnapped. Stopped a bullet midair from hitting an elderly man. Caught a guy falling from a building.

But one save that stood out to him the most was helping a young boy find his dog.

The boy- Timmy was only nine years old, his dog was not even a year old, a Maltese. Apparently he was taking Rex for a walk when he lost the hold on his leash and Rex ran after squirrels.

Timmy reminded Adem of himself- his own childhood. He had a Maltese himself growing up, and he did actually lose his dog once as well. He was heart broken, he couldn't eat for a week and spent every day after school trying to find him. He never found his dog…

Timmy was more lucky than him. It only took Adem 10 minutes to find Rex. The dog was very dirty and he was injured, clearly it had gotten into a fight with a larger cat. Adem flew Rex to the nearest vet and once the vet confirmed Rex would be fine he called Timmy's mom and gave them the good news.

Seeing the young boy reconnect with his best friend actually brought a tear to Adem's face.

He had felt truly touched.

— General POV, God U. —

During the past two months Adem's actions did not go unnoticed by the masses.

He had gone from being a powerful young Supe, to being someone people of Memphis had called out for help.

This also caused his popularity to soar to the level on par with Top Tier Vought Heroes like A-Train and Deep- carefully crafted hero personas Vought had spent millions to cultivate.

This kind of meteoric rise did not go unnoticed, at least not by top brass amongst the Vought, and now, one of them had travelled all the way to God U to discuss the situation directly with Adem.

"Hello Khan, it's been ages." A redhead in a suit said with a smile that did not quite reach her eyes. Seeing there was no recognition from the Supe she clarified "I am Ashley Barrett, we met back when I was still Ms. Stillwell's assistant- rest in peace."

It took Adem a moment to recognize her. She was the woman who replaced Stan Edgar- she was the current CEO of Vought.

"Right. Ms. Barrett, sorry about that, it's been a while. Congratulations on your promotion by the way." He said as he put up his hand,

She looked at his hand for a moment, there was a mixture of fear and excitement on her face. She took his hand and very gently squeezed it as they shook hands.

"Thank you, and congrats on your successful saves. Few heroes could actually match your proficiency. All of your saves were successful and recorded with a bodycam to prevent potential he-said-she-said legal recourse. Even Homelander was impressed." She told him,

His expression stiffened slightly. 'So Homelander send her, the question is why?'

"Thanks. That's good to hear. Professor Brink said a high ranking official from Vought wanted to see me, but he did not mention why."

"Right. Straight to the point. I like that. You already know we are planning to recruit you into the Seven upon graduation- congrats for that as well by the way. But before that, we would like you to make an appearance in VCU- to prepare the stage for your induction to the Seven."

'VCU- Vought Cinematic Universe. Its basically MCU but since superheroes are actually real here the interest in these movies far exceeds the Marvel heroes could generate in my old world. I think they grossed over 200 billion in 6 phases. While MCU is barely above 32 billion in 4 phases.' He mused about what he knew about the topic before nodding his head.

"VCU is so prestigious but um, my acting might not be good enough for the big screen, do you think it's a good idea for me to appear in one of your billion dollar pictures?" He asked, clearly wanting to weasel out politely.

"Oh please. I have seen your commercials. You are far better than you give yourself credit for. Plus, Homelander believe in your ability, so I think you'll do wonderful." She said

"*sigh* Alright then. So what did you have in mind? Cameo in the upcoming A-Train movie or something?"

That got a genuine chuckle from Ashley.

"Oh no, of course not. We want you… to star in your own movie."
